Job description

The Bigger Picture

At Andromeda, we're building the social intelligence layer for humanoid robots - technology that allows robots to understand people, build relationships and become a meaningful part of everyday life.

Our first robot, Abi, is already doing this in aged care and healthcare, where she brings conversation, companionship and engagement to people every day.

Now we're scaling from early deployments into a platform that can operate across thousands of real-world environments. We're looking for individuals who want to tackle hard problems across robotics and AI, and help define what it means for robots to live and interact alongside people.

Our Values
  • Empathy – Kindness and compassion are at the heart of everything we do.
  • Play – Play sharpens focus. It keeps us curious, fast and obsessed with the craft.
  • Never Settle – A relentless ambition, bias toward action, and uncomfortable levels of curiosity.
  • Tenacity – Tenacious under pressure, we assume chaos and stay in motion to adapt and progress.
  • Unity – Different minds. Shared mission. No passengers.
Role Overview

We are looking for a highly analytical and execution-driven Finance Manager to lead our day-to-day financial operations and build our foundational forecasting models. In this role, you will own our financial data for our humanoid companion robotics business, translating raw numbers into actionable business insights. You will drive our budgeting process, modernize and upgrade our financial tech stack, automate finance operations, and provide analysis of our monthly financial performance.

Additionally, you will serve as an internal contact for our external accounting vendors across our two operating countries: the US and Australia. We are looking for a tech-forward finance manager who leverages AI and modern automation tools in addition to being able to be hands-on to wrangle spreadsheets. This role reports directly to the COO/CFO.

Core Responsibilities

1. Financial Modeling & Budgeting

  • Own the corporate financial model, continuously updating forecasts for revenue, headcount, cash burn, and runway.
  • Lead the annual and departmental budgeting processes, partnering with team leads to set, track, and adjust spending targets.
  • Build scenario tools to stress-test business decisions, pricing changes, unit economics, and new market expansions.
  • Model inventory and supply chain cash flows, tracking factory lead times, component costs, and minimum order quantities (MOQs) to prevent cash crunches.
  • Analyze hardware unit economics, maintaining accurate tracking of the Bill of Materials (BOM), manufacturing variances, and gross margins.

2. Post-Close Analysis & Reporting

  • Perform monthly variance analysis, dissecting discrepancies between actual financial results and original budget targets.
  • Deliver monthly management reports, highlighting key financial trends, efficiency metrics, and risk areas.
  • Conduct monthly funds flow and cash bridge analysis, meticulously tracking the exact sources and uses of cash to explain variances between net income and actual bank balances (e.g., mapping cash tied up in inventory, factory deposits, or accounts receivable).
  • Translate complex data sets into simple, clear financial dashboards that track business health.

3. Finance Operations & Vendor Oversight

  • Streamline core finance ops, including internal invoice approvals, expense management workflows, and vendor payments.
  • Lead the evaluation, migration, and upgrade of our finance tech stack (e.g., connecting ERP/accounting systems with inventory management, billing engines, and expense platforms).
  • Implement AI-driven workflows to automate routine financial ops, such as using AI tools for automated invoice processing, contract data extraction, and preliminary variance analysis.
  • Build automated data pipelines to sync hardware fulfillment data with software subscription metrics, reducing manual spreadsheet updates.
  • Coordinate with external local accountants in both operating countries to ensure smooth monthly closings.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: 4 to 6+ years in FP&A or corporate finance, with direct experience in a hardware, manufacturing, IoT, or physical product company that incorporates a subscription layer.
  • Modeling Expertise: Exceptional financial modeling skills, including specific experience modeling inventory cycles, working capital, and blended hardware/software margins. Ability to use Google Sheets.
  • Cash Flow Mastery: Deep understanding of working capital mechanics, cash-versus-accrual adjustments, and modeling cash flows.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong grasp of post-close analysis, variance tracking, and identifying operational inefficiencies through accounting data.
  • Finance Ops Familiarity: Practical experience researching, setting up and optimizing internal tools for tracking expenses, vendor billing, and corporate spend.
  • AI & Automation Fluency: Hands‑on experience using modern AI tools or LLMs (e.g., for data analysis, code/formula generation, or text extraction) and modern AI-forward financial platforms to speed up workflows.
  • Global Exposure: Basic familiarity with managing multi‑currency books or coordinating with external accounting partners.
About you
  • Ownership. You see what's needed before being asked and don't wait to be told twice.
  • Comfort with ambiguity. You take open-ended, high-stakes asks and shape them into structured work — energized by that, not unsettled.
  • High agency, low ego. No task is beneath you and no problem is someone else's.
  • You're a finisher. You close the loop on the small stuff — a missed detail, a stalled vendor thread, a supply reorder — before anyone has to follow up.

The expected base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $185,000 USD, + .05 - 0.2% equity. Actual compensation will be determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Please note: At this time, we are generally not offering visa sponsorship for this role.
