Job Purpose:

The Inventory Control Associate maintains inventory accuracy within the Warehouse Management System (WMS) by supporting cycle counting and inventory reconciliation practices, and by identifying and resolving discrepancies between physical stock and system records. This role partners with the Operations and Warehouse teams to meet business demands, upholds the company’s core values and commitment to service excellence, and helps build strong relationships with internal and external customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compile data from sources such as invoices, purchase orders, and accounting reports.
  • Enter and maintain data within the Warehouse Management System (WMS), ensuring inventory, purchasing, shipping, and other records remain accurate and up to date.
  • Count material, equipment, merchandise, or supplies in stock, and post totals to inventory records.
  • Verify and compare clerical computations, physical inventory counts, and WMS records; research and resolve discrepancies through inventory reconciliation practices, correcting errors in computation or count.
  • Assist with unloading and receiving containers.
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, pallet jack, or handcart.
  • Use radio equipment for picking, receiving, put-away, and load functions, as required.
  • Support the cycle counting program by conducting scheduled counts, tracking variances, and helping drive continuous improvement in inventory accuracy.
  • Assist with the annual physical inventory count and help maintain accurate records of all inventory levels.
  • Update product bin locations based on product status.
  • Support a safe working environment and model safe work habits.
  • Maintain a focus on continuous learning, for both self and team, to build skills and growth opportunities.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management System (WMS) software, including inventory transactions, reporting, and cycle count entry
  • Exceptional customer service capabilities
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time-management, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Excellent typing skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a group setting

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years of forklift experience preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in logistics and inventory control
  • Hands-on experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) required; experience supporting cycle counting and inventory reconciliation practices strongly preferred
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills required
  • Excellent written and verbal customer service skills required
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Excel required
  • Ability to learn new software programs
  • Ability to produce a high volume of work and work independently

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods
  • Heavy lifting: raising or lowering objects from one level to another (includes upward pulling)
  • Exposure to varied temperatures within the warehouse environment
  • Work inside and outside; work around machinery with moving parts and vehicles
  • Carrying, pushing, pulling boxes and items; up to 75-100 lbs., at times.

The successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
