Job description

Job Purpose:

Inventory Control Director is responsible for managing the daily operations of the department across multiple facilities and ensuring that adequate inventory of products and services are in accordance with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy.


The person in this position conducts daily inventory analysis to solve inventory problems as well as implement inventory control procedures. Coordinates and manages daily physical counts along with training and managing the team. This position reports to the General Manager of Warehousing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain physical inventory of external customers.
  • Timely communication with customer representatives regarding inventory issues including the existence, cause and resolution of inventory variances.
  • Implements and maintains policy and procedures relating to inventory control, to include ensuring the accuracy of warehouse inventory and analysis of product flow.
  • Ensures that division follows government regulations (FDA & AIB) and compliance.
  • Maintains AIB policy and procedures.
  • Perform all recall and quality holds for operation -- assign and release holds based on feedback from QA or QRC.
  • Responsible for employee development through training on policy & procedures.
  • Creates a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open.
  • Setting up warehouses; pick fronts, storage, allocations, chaining, etc.
  • Recognizes signs of operational problems and provides detailed action steps required to correct them.
  • Develop and consistently execute the cycle count program to insure inventory and location accuracy, including (but not limited to) aisle audits, empty slot report, and special counts for high value items.
  • Success in this area is achieved when these counts and the corresponding system entries are performed thoroughly and accurately and provides benefit to the overall operation.
  • Train production management and QA personnel on the proper methods for resolving quality, production and inventory related issues in the site's warehouse management system.
  • Labor Planning.
  • Timely communication of inventory issues with the Operations Manager, Shift Managers and Shift Supervisors.
  • Special project request from clients.
  • Generation and distribution of weekly reports that summarizing inventory accuracy through the use of cycle counts.
  • Peco & Chep pallet management.


Job Complexity:

  • Management skills and the ability to manage a staff of employees.
  • 7 Direct Reports.
  • Hire, Train, Coach, and Mentor.
  • Hold all warehouse staff accountable.
  • Ability to lead or support IT modification projects.
  • Ability to maintain an organized, neat and orderly operation as it pertains to Inventory Control.
  • Ensures that all project and client KPIs are met or exceeds expectation.
  • Requires knowledge of reporting requirements as it pertains to co-pack.
  • Good communication, problem resolution, and people skills.


Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of Warehouse Management experience.
  • 3PL Experience a Plus.
  • Synapse WMS Experience a Plus.
  • Ability to report/track trending and historical data.
  • Must have strong business writing and case analysis skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Excel with basic knowledge of Access, data entry and general computer abilities.
  • Experience in warehouse safety and safety training.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Regularly work in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
  • Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $135,000 per year
