JOB TITLE: Inventory Control and Scheduling Analyst
DEPARTMENT: 2030 OPS - General Inventory Control
REPORTS TO: Inventory Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Scheduler/Data Analyst is responsible for planning, scheduling, and monitoring batch processing within the Thompkins automated sorting system while supporting operational performance through data analysis and research. This role ensures efficient sorter utilization, accurate batch execution, and timely resolution of inventory discrepancies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scheduling & Operations
  • Create and manage daily batch schedules for the Thompkins automated sorter, planning up to one month in advance based on volume, priority, and operational capacity
  • Coordinate multiple batch types to ensure optimal flow and minimal downtime
  • Adjust schedules in real time to accommodate changes in workload, staffing, or system performance
  • Communicate schedules and changes clearly to operations, shipping, and leadership teams
  • Monitor sorter throughput and escalate issues impacting performance or output

Data Analysis & Research
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies including missing items, returns, boxes, and batches
  • Perform root cause analysis on sorter errors, delays, and inefficiencies
  • Partner with operations and inventory control to improve data accuracy and process reliability
  • Maintain data integrity across systems related to batch processing and inventory tracking

Reporting & Performance Tracking
  • Track and report sorter performance metrics (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual)
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports on throughput, accuracy, and productivity
  • Identify trends and provide actionable recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce errors
  • Support leadership with data-driven insights for planning and process improvement

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, or automated systems preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, data analysis, reporting)
  • Knowledge in SQL (data analysis)
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems and automated sorting systems is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Prophet and business intelligence (BI) reporting tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of controlled substances and waste management, ensuring regulatory compliance and reducing operational errors.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude in a high-performance team environment.
  • Must pass background check and random drug screenings.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Must be adaptable and flexible in dealing with a diverse work force
