Job description

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for coordinating and overseeing inventory accuracy across multiple warehouse locations. This role does not perform physical counts but ensures that cycle counting programs are executed properly, discrepancies are investigated, and corrective actions are implemented.

The position serves as the central point of control for inventory integrity, working cross-functionally with warehouse operations, purchasing, and finance to maintain accurate, auditable inventory records.

This position is located on-site in Hunt Valley, MD.

Key Responsibilities

Cycle Count Program Management

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor ABC cycle counting programs across all warehouse locations
  • Schedule and assign counts to site teams
  • Ensure adherence to cycle count frequency and completion targets
  • Audit count results for accuracy and compliance with SOPs
  • Track and report count completion and accuracy KPIs

Inventory Discrepancy Research & Resolution

  • Investigate inventory variances using system data (transactions, adjustments, history)
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on discrepancies
  • Partner with warehouse teams to validate findings and implement corrections
  • Recommend and track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Identify trends and systemic issues impacting inventory accuracy

System & Data Management

  • Maintain inventory accuracy within NetSuite and RF-SMART
  • Review and approve inventory adjustments in accordance with company policy
  • Ensure proper use of:
    • Lot control
    • Bin management
    • Transaction integrity
  • Support master data accuracy (item setup, bins, units of measure)

Reporting & Analytics

  • Produce weekly and monthly inventory reports including:
    • Accuracy % by location
    • Shrink / variance reporting
    • Cycle count completion rates
  • Build dashboards to monitor:
    • High-risk SKUs
    • Repeated variances
    • Location performance
  • Provide actionable insights to leadership

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve:
    • Inventory accuracy
    • Cycle count efficiency
    • Warehouse processes impacting inventory
  • Develop and maintain inventory control SOPs
  • Standardize processes across all locations
  • Support system enhancements and testing

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with:
    • Warehouse Managers
    • Operations Leadership
    • Purchasing & Supply Chain
    • Finance / Accounting
  • Provide guidance and training to site teams on:
    • Cycle count procedures
    • Inventory best practices
    • Compliance expectations

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of inventory control experience in a distribution or warehouse environment
  • Experience managing multi-site inventory operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel / data analysis skills
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NetSuite and RF-SMART
  • Knowledge of:

Compensation: $22.00 - $24.00/hour
