Job description

Overview

We are a large, industry-leading logistics and distribution company operating a substantial fleet of heavy commercial vehicles, specialized equipment, and material handling systems. Our commitment to operational excellence, safety, and reliability powers our success. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to lead our skilled team of mechanics and ensure our equipment remains safe, efficient, and compliant.

As the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a critical leadership role in maintaining a large fleet of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. You will oversee daily maintenance operations, manage a team of technicians, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards. This is a key position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maximizing uptime and minimizing costs.

This role is based out of our PepsiCo location in London, ON and covers fleet operations at the following locations:

  • London
  • Essex
  • Orillia
  • Owen Sound

Total Compensation: $63,300 - $103,200


Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5+ mechanics and technicians, including scheduling, performance evaluations, training, and professional development across multiple locations.
  • Oversee all preventive maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and major overhauls for heavy commercial vehicles, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and material handling equipment.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure strict compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and other federal/provincial regulations, including emissions standards and safety protocols.
  • Monitor key performance metrics (e.g., MTTR, MTBF, cost per mile, PM compliance) and drive data-informed improvements.
  • Manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and repair budgets to control costs effectively.
  • Coordinate with operations teams to prioritize repairs and support fleet availability.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and quality inspections.
  • Utilize fleet management software and CMMS systems to track work orders, history, and compliance documentation.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, continuous learning, and teamwork

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in heavy equipment and commercial fleet maintenance.
  • At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or lead mechanic role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, transmissions, and material handling equipment (forklifts, reach trucks, etc.).
  • Proven ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations, ASE certifications, and EPA guidelines preferred.
  • Experience with fleet management software (e.g., EAM Infor or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL a strong plus.
