Job description

Job Title:Lumber Yard Associate

Reports To:Yard Manager

Job Type:Full-Time/Part-Time

Position Summary:

The Lumber Yard Associate is responsible helping customers, loadingand unloading trucks, stocking material, delivering material, cleaning, organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in gathering materials to build loads/orders
  • Assist truck drivers to load various building supplies onto trucks for delivery
  • Operate the yard forklifts once training and certification has been achieved
  • Help unload transport trucks with product for the store and yard
  • Be knowledgeable about all products stored in the yard
  • Practice proper material handling techniques to ensure minimal damage to yard inventory
  • Keep the yard area clean and presentable in appearance
  • Executes and understands the importance of time management, standards of operating procedures, owner's manuals and product/warning labels
  • Assists in keeping inventory stocked with proper materials
  • Operates with a strict awareness of all safety
  • Ensure proper loading, unloading, stacking, and storage of lumber and related products.
  • Assist team in maintaining accurate inventory records and assist with regular cycle counts.
  • A strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service is essential, as this role directly supports our goal of ensuring every customer has a positive and professional experience.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by manager or supervisor as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or certifications a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of lumber types, sizes, and grades.
  • Proficient in forklift operation; current forklift certification preferred.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 100 lbs) and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily outdoors in a lumber yard setting.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, and noise.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Schedule:

  • Full-time: typically Monday through Friday and every other Saturday (will be off another day during the week when working Saturday).
  • Part-time: works as needed (typically works Saturdays).
