Job Description:

Parsons is seeking aMechanical Engineerto support our cutting-edgeDrone Armorcounter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) program. The Mechanical Engineer will design, analyze, prototype, and support manufacturing of mechanical and thermal devices and subsystems that enable Drone Armor systems to perform reliably in demanding operational environments.

What You'll Be Doing

Mechanical & Thermal Problem Analysis

  • Analyze problems to determine how mechanical and thermal devices or subsystems can help solve mission and system challenges
  • Evaluate environmental, structural, and thermal constraints relevant to C-UAS platforms and support equipment

Mechanical/Thermal Design & CAD

  • Design or redesign mechanical and thermal devices or subsystems using analytical methods and computer-aided design (CAD) tools
  • Develop detailed models, drawings, and specifications for components and assemblies used in Drone Armor systems

Failure Investigation & Corrective Actions

  • Investigate equipment failures or performance difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedies
  • Perform root cause analysis and propose design, material, or process changes to improve reliability and maintainability

Prototyping, Testing & Iteration

  • Develop and test prototypes of mechanical and thermal devices you design
  • Analyze test results, assess performance against requirements, and change the design or system as needed
  • Support lab and field testing, including instrumentation, data collection, and test setup for mechanical components

Manufacturing Support & Oversight

  • Oversee the manufacturing process for devices and subsystems, coordinating with fabrication, suppliers, and quality teams
  • Review manufacturing plans, build issues, and nonconformances, providing engineering disposition and guidance
  • Ensure that designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with program schedule and quality objectives

What Required Skills You'll Bring

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline is required with 5 years of experience
    OR
  • 8 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience may be substituted for education

Experience

  • Experience analyzing problems where mechanical and thermal solutions are required
  • Experience designing or redesigning mechanical and thermal devices or subsystems using CAD and analytical methods
  • Experience investigating equipment failures or difficulties and recommending corrective actions
  • Experience developing and testing prototypes, and iterating designs based on test results

Technical Competencies

  • Proficiency with mechanical CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)

  • Ability to interpret and generate engineering drawings, specifications, and test plans
  • Familiarity with prototyping methods, test instrumentation, and basic structural/thermal analysis techniques
