Inventor Remote information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Inventor Remote, and why are they important?

To succeed as a remote inventor, you need a strong background in creative problem-solving, engineering principles, and product design, often supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with CAD software, rapid prototyping tools, and the patent application process is typically necessary. Excellent self-motivation, communication, and project management skills help you collaborate virtually and drive projects independently. These competencies enable remote inventors to efficiently develop innovative solutions, protect their ideas, and manage projects from concept to commercialization.

How do remote inventors typically collaborate with teams or stakeholders during the product development process?

As a remote inventor, collaboration is often managed through digital communication tools such as video conferencing, shared cloud-based documents, and project management platforms. You may work closely with engineers, designers, and business development teams to refine ideas, share prototypes, and gather feedback. Regular virtual meetings and clear documentation are key to ensuring everyone remains aligned on goals and timelines. While working remotely provides flexibility, maintaining proactive communication and being responsive to feedback are important to drive innovation and project success.

What are Inventor Remote jobs?

Inventor Remote jobs are positions where individuals create, design, and develop new products, devices, or processes while working from a remote location. Remote inventors may work independently or as part of a team, using digital tools to brainstorm, prototype, and collaborate. These roles often require strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and knowledge of relevant technologies or industries. Working remotely allows inventors to contribute from anywhere, often with flexible schedules and the ability to collaborate with global teams.

What is the difference between Inventor Remote vs CAD Designer?

AspectInventor RemoteCAD Designer
Required CredentialsAutodesk Inventor certification, technical degreeCAD software proficiency, relevant diploma or certification
Work EnvironmentRemote, often independent or team-based projectsRemote or on-site, varies by employer
Industry UsageEngineering, product design, manufacturingArchitecture, engineering, product development

Inventor Remote and CAD Designer roles share similar technical skills and certifications, often working in engineering or design industries. While Inventor Remote specialists focus on Autodesk Inventor software for 3D modeling, CAD Designers may work with various CAD tools across different sectors. Both roles can be remote, but Inventor Remote positions are more specialized in Autodesk Inventor applications, making them ideal for those with specific software expertise.

Job description

CADTALK is the connective tissue between engineering and operations at discrete manufacturing companies. We integrate CAD, PDM, and PLM systems with ERP platforms, automating the flow of BOMs, item masters, and engineering changes across systems like SolidWorks, Inventor, SolidWorks PDM, Arena PLM, IFS, Infor Syteline, Acumatica, and Microsoft Business Central. Our customers build complex products: job shops, make-to-order, engineer-to-order.

The problem we solve is that these companies run multiple systems that were never designed to work together, and the engineering data that drives their business has to move between them accurately and intelligently. We make that happen. We are a small, growing team doing meaningful work for real companies.

No corporate layers. No busywork. If you have worked in manufacturing and seen the disconnect between what engineering designs and what operations builds, you already understand why we exist.

Role Description We are looking for an Implementation Consultant to join our Professional Services team. You will work directly with manufacturing engineers and IT teams to configure, deploy, and support CADTALK integrations at customer sites. This is a consulting role.

You will own the technical solution for your projects: understanding how the customer designs, how they manage BOMs and engineering changes, how their ERP is structured, and then configuring CADTALK to connect those systems. You will be the person the customer trusts to get it right. You will be paired with a dedicated Project Manager who owns timelines, scope, and commercial conversations.

Your job is the technical solution. The customer trust and credibility come naturally from doing that well. What you will do Own technical delivery for implementation projects from kickoff through go-live Configure CADTALK integrations between CAD/PDM/PLM systems and ERP platforms Consult with customer engineering and IT teams on integration best practices Perform data mapping, validation, and troubleshooting during deployment Participate in project calls to present technical solutions and answer customer questions Manage 15-30+ concurrent projects at varying stages Collaborate with Product and Engineering when customer needs uncover edge cases or feature gaps Maintain accurate project documentation and time tracking Contribute to internal knowledge, templates, and process improvements as you learn what works Who We are Looking For The strongest candidates will have done some version of this work before.

Maybe you implemented CAD or ERP systems at a reseller or VAR. Maybe you were a solutions engineer at a PLM vendor. Maybe you were an ERP consultant who worked closely with engineering departments.

The common thread is that you have worked with manufacturing customers, you understand their systems, and you have delivered projects. We also hire engineers who come from manufacturing and want to move into consulting. If you have spent years as a mechanical or manufacturing engineer using CAD and ERP systems every day and you are ready for something different, that background is valuable here.

You will need to be comfortable talking to customers, managing multiple projects, and learning a new product quickly. What will make you successful Experience implementing, configuring, or consulting on CAD, PDM, PLM, or ERP systems in a manufacturing environment A background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical discipline Comfort working directly with customers: running calls, presenting solutions, managing expectations The ability to think systematically about data mapping and configuration logic (this is not heavy coding, but you need to think in if/then terms) Strong communication skills with both engineers and business stakeholders Self-discipline to manage your own time and priorities across multiple concurrent projects in a remote environment Bonus Points Prior experience at a VAR, reseller, or systems integrator serving manufacturers Direct experience with SolidWorks, Inventor, SolidWorks PDM, Arena PLM, IFS, Infor Syteline, Acumatica, or Microsoft Business Central Familiarity with engineering change processes (ECOs/ECNs) and BOM management Experience with project management tools like Rocketlane, Asana, or similar Background consulting with discrete manufacturers (job shops, make-to-order, engineer-to-order environments) Compensation and Benefits Base salary: $78,000 - $110,000+ depending on experience and level Bonus: Quarterly performance bonus based on team gross margin (typically $10,000 - $18,000+ annually at full productivity) Healthcare: 100% employer-paid employee coverage 401(k): 4% match PTO: Unlimited (subject to manager approval) Equipment: Laptop provided Location: Fully remote. Team is distributed across the US, Canada, and internationally.

Why CADTALK We are growing fast and the team is small enough that your work matters immediately. You will not spend six months in onboarding purgatory. You will be on real projects with real customers quickly.

The people who do well here are engineers who like solving problems for other engineers. You will talk to manufacturing professionals every day who are dealing with the same frustrations you have probably experienced firsthand. You get to help them fix it.

We invest in our people. We have a clear career framework with defined levels (IC2 through IC4), transparent compensation bands, and a quarterly bonus program that rewards the team for delivering great outcomes. We want people who want to grow with us.
