Job description

Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR Tech)

Immediate need for a talented Interventional Radiology Technologist (IR Tech). This is a 13 weeks contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Cambridge, MA (Onsite).

Pay Range: $80 - $85/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule: 10-hour day shifts (7:00/7:30am โ€“ 6:00/6:30pm, varies) โ€“ 40 hours expected per week; rotating weekends and on-call required
  • Local candidates are eligible to apply (within 50 miles)
  • Assist interventional radiologists with vascular and general IR procedures including angiograms, biopsies, drainages, thrombolysis, and venous access.
  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields, equipment, and contrast agents for procedures.
  • Operate fluoroscopic and imaging equipment to acquire high-quality diagnostic and intra-procedural images.
  • Administer contrast media and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC EMR and PACS.
  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule and weekend rotations as assigned.
  • Float to other sites within the health system as needed (not more than one site per day).
  • Adhere to radiation safety, infection control, and ALARA principles.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and anesthesia team to ensure safe, efficient procedures.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

  • Must have skills: Interventional Radiology, IR Technologist, ARRT, MA License, BLS, EPIC, Vascular IR
  • Active ARRT certification (required at time of submittal)
  • Active Massachusetts (MA) Radiologic Technologist license (required at time of submittal)
  • AHA BLS certification (required)
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience in interventional radiology (IR)
  • Travel experience (required)
  • EPIC EMR experience (required)
  • Ability to work 10-hour day shifts (7:00/7:30am โ€“ 6:00/6:30pm, varies), 40 hours guaranteed per week
  • Must be available to work rotating weekends and on-call (rotating)
  • Weekly schedule posted 4 weeks in advance
  • No prior permanent employment at any Cambridge facility
  • Submission requirements: Up-to-date resume (min 2 years specialty experience), 2 recent manager/supervisor references in matching specialty, skills checklist, driver's license with matching address, RTO included at time of submission (not guaranteed after confirmation), flu vaccine required during season
  • Proficiency in vascular and general IR procedures and equipment
  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique, contrast administration, and radiation safety
  • Excellent patient assessment and emergency response during procedures
  • Ability to float between sites and adapt to varying schedules
  • Strong communication and teamwork in a procedural setting
  • Detail-oriented with accurate EPIC documentation
