Employment Status:Full timeShift:Day (United States of America)Facility:1906 Belleview Ave SE - RoanokeRequisition Number:R150663 Interventional Radiology Nurse - RN (Open) How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:The Interventional Radiology Nurse delivers nursing care to patients in the Interventional Radiology and Neurointerventional Radiology department, assesses patient condition and takes immediate action in Emergency situations. Assumes primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages. Determines and performs within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to support (direct/indirect) evidenced based, quality patient care service and performance improvement.

The Interventional Radiology Nurse

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate to service area.

  • Completes focused assessments of patients undergoing procedures and/or sedation of all ages in a timely manner.

  • Responds to patient care needs before, during, and after procedures including assessment of condition, cardiac arrest, and intravenous problems.

  • Performs preexamination and post examination assessments for angiography, CT scan and other special procedures.

  • Collaborates with members of the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age-specific interdisciplinary plan of care.

  • Follows established standards and practice under the direction of a credentialed radiologist, credentialed invasive cardiologist or credentialed intravascular surgeon.

  • Administers treatments and medications for patients of all ages and documented utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

  • Patient/family (caregiver) educational needs are identified in a timely manner, incorporated into the plan of care, implemented and documented appropriately.

  • Determines and performs within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to support (direct/indirect) evidenced based, quality patient care service and performance improvement.

  • Plans strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve patient outcomes.

  • Organizes and prioritizes tasks. Demonstrates flexibility with scheduling; able to prioritize competing needs.

  • Completes manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame and according to pre-established guidelines.

  • Orients new employees as needed.

  • Provides feedback to staff using appropriate communication and documentation.

  • Provides input into practice, environment, and work issues by participating on unit, hospital, and/or system activities which facilitates staff participation/input in decision making.

  • Assists with providing education activities for unit/department.

What We Require:

Education: Graduate of school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.

Experience: none
Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. AHA ACLS, PALS, and AHA BLS-HCP required.
Other minimum qualifications: Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
