American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 12-hour night shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and prior travel contract completion.
Details- Emergency Department at a 25-bed critical access, Trauma Level IV facility
- Patient population ranges from newborn to geriatric (ages 0-100+)
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4
- 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week
- Shift times include 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, and 7p-7a rotations
- No floating required
- Holiday coverage required; travelers must work 2 of 4 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day)
- Minimum of every other weekend or as scheduled to meet unit needs
- Uses Epic documentation system and Pyxis medication system
- Specialized equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Phillips monitors, and Ranger blood warmer
- Utilizes ESI triage scale, IV insertion, drips/infusions, EKGs, restraint application, procedural sedation, and ambulance transports
- STEMI, stroke, and trauma patients transported to higher level of care, occasionally requiring RN transport support
- Telemedicine and Telestroke consultations available through UVMMC
- Active RN license (VT or Compact) required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required, at least 1 completed travel assignment
- EPIC EMR experience required within the past 2 years
- Charge experience highly preferred
- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced ED setting with a mix of newborn to geriatric patients
- Staffing includes 3-4 RNs per shift, an ED tech 24/7, and a charge nurse on duty 24/7
- One MD scheduled 24 hours with mid-level support (PA/NP) from 0930-2130
- Manager/supervisor on-call during off hours
- Facility does not have interventional radiology or cath lab; provides general surgery services
- Comfort with precepting new nurses may be required
- Willingness to participate in ambulance transports may be required
- Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended as public transportation is not accessible in the area
- Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
- First-time travelers are not eligible; prior travel experience is required
