Day (United States of America)PRN, 630a - 4pm Windy Hill Hospital Job Summary:

Functions under the direction of the Site Manager. He/she is responsible for performing a wide variety of clinical procedures
requiring independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of
diseases. The registered nurse is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge and
experience. The nurse is responsible for providing patient care with an understanding and awareness of age specific needs.
Addresses the biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial and patient/family education needs in providing care to the
patient and family. The nurse is able to independently perform job functions.


Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1. Clinical Skills
a. Completion of V-ARU competencies
b. Provide pre and post procedure care of patients for invasive, interventional and surgical procedures
c. Able to use critical thinking skills
d. Able to deliver patient care in complex, multiple problem patient care situations
e. Prepares and may administer contrast. Understands preparation/administration of doses according to patients weight and physician order
f. Administers conscious sedation per system policy and procedure
g. Preps the patient for procedure
h. Demonstrates and understands steriile technique
i. Demonstrate IV administration competence and maintenance
j. Prepares trays and catheters for procedure
3. Job Responsibilities
a. Must be flexible with hours to meet department needs
b. Able to work scheduled and On-Call hours if necessary
c. Knows existing lines of communication and authority, handles communications properly and is dependable, cooperative and emotionally stable.
d. Introduces self to patient and/or guardian upon entering room utilizing proper scripting
e, Transports patients as needed
k. Provides privacy and comfort for patient/customers
l. Assists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and Performance Improvement
m. Completes necessary paperwork
n. Answers department phone using proper scripting
o. Completes chart reviews as needed
p. Performs QA/QC functions as needed
q. Assists in other Medical Imaging areas and as needed in other departments in the system, system wide
r. Maintain current successful completion of BLS and ACLS
s. Understands Scope of Service for Vascular Institute, VARU and Medical Imaging
t. Assist in inservice/training for other Medical Imaging staff as appropriate
o. Reviews case with the appropriate physician(s) as needed.
p. Recognizes that total patient care starts when the patient arrives at our facility and ends when the physician/patient have the imaging results.
q. Meets Service Recovery and Customer Service Guidelines as needed.
r. Reviews the case with appropriate physician(s) as needed
u. Coordinates daily schedule of patients
v. Maintains checking the crash cart in assigned Medical Imaging areas.
2. . Quality and Patient Safety
a. Verifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, ie. Armband, DOB, verbal identification
b. Verifies front of patient chart for same/similar name sticker
c. Verifies Written Order, seeks clarification is unclear
d. Understands and complies with verbal order RBAC and performs necessary follow-up with written order
e. Uses and understands preprocedural verification/time out form when appropriate
f. Understands and complies with site/side marking when indicated
4. Patient Education
a. Responsible for patient, family/support system education
b. Provide post procedural home care instructions as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.


Required Minimum Education:
  • Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support or ARC-ALS - Amer Red Cross Advanced Life Support or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor or ACLS-P - ACLS-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
  • BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
  • RN - Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN-COMPACT - RN - Multi-state Compact

Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum of 3 years experience in Interventional Radiology. Cardiac cath is a bonus!

Must be experienced in moderate sedation.

ICU / CCU /ER or previous Cath Lab experience required
