Job description

Shifts: Rotate Days and PMs; 8 hour shifts; with e/o weekend and holiday rotation.
Health Unit Coordinator/Monitor Tech
  The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) coordinates communication between nursing staff, physicians, other departments, professional staff, patients, and families relating to patient care. HUC facilitates unit operations through knowing and communicating information, managing the desk area, facilitating the use of technology, monitoring and communicating bed status, and coordinating downtime procedures. The HUC utilizes Epic to facilitate patient care orders and serves as an Epic resource to physicians and the nursing staff.
The primary function of the Monitor Tech (MT) is continual observation and recognition of normal and abnormal cardiac rhythms. This is accomplished through accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms via monitors.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two, four hour classes on cardiac rhythm interpretation will be integrated during the orientation period. A rhythm interpretation competency needs to be successfully completed within the initial 90 day orientation
  • Keyboard skills required
  • Principles of effective communication.
  • Knowledge of data entry system
  • Effective organizational skills and time management
  • Must be able to complete orientation and demonstrate competency in both roles prior to the completion of the 90 day probation period.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in acute care setting
  • Prior experience as Health Unit Coordinator or Monitor Technician, helpful but not necessary
  • Medical Terminology 

*Must be available the first week of employment for HUC orientation that takes place Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM*
