Role Descriptions: The Associate Attorney will work on-site in Chicago, IL in a full-time capacity, supporting the firmโ€™s Taft-Hartley fund and labor union clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting legal research, and providing clear, practical legal advice under the supervision of senior attorneys. The role involves assisting with labor and employment matters, participating in negotiations, and preparing for hearings, arbitrations, and other proceedings. The Associate Attorney will collaborate with colleagues, interact with clients, and help ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations affecting benefit funds and labor organizations.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Law, with demonstrated ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Knowledge of Labor and Employment Law, particularly issues affecting labor unions and Taft-Hartley benefit funds.
  • Ability to provide clear and practical Legal Advice to clients, including drafting opinions and guidance documents.
  • Proficiency in legal Research, including use of electronic research tools and preparation of well-supported memoranda.
  • Effective Negotiation skills to support collective bargaining, dispute resolution, and client advocacy.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; admission to practice law in Illinois, or eligibility to obtain it promptly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Prior experience or internships in labor, employment, employee benefits, or union-side practice are beneficial.
