Internship Program

Since Franz Witte was founded in 1971, we have been bringing timeless designs and quality construction to all of our clients because we are passionate about providing something truly special. In addition to being passionate about our work, we are also passionate about giving back to the beautiful community that we live in. Our "cool" culture is centered around hard work, relationships, leadership, and excellence and we are proud to be one of the leading landscaping and nursery companies in Idaho (and the only one with a Flamingo as our mascot!).

 Franz Witte Landscape Contracting, Inc (FWLC) is proud to offer an internship for college/university continuing education. We offer a variety of learning opportunities with our Garden Center, Maintenance Division and Construction Division.

Interns are expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Compensation is dependent on experience. Undergraduate and graduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are encouraged to apply. Summer sessions are offered.

Application Dates

Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible in advance of the deadline. Invitations for interviews will start approximately two weeks before the stated deadline below. 

Summer Session (end-May through end-August): Please submit your application by April 15th.

Internship Tracks

The following positions are available for an Internship and credits may be available through your college or university.  We encourage you to spend time in all tracks available to have a rounded experience.

  • Maintenance Track
  • Landscape Track
  • Garden Center Track

Maintenance Track

Students who choose the Maintenance Track for their internship will:

  • Work on Residential and Commercial Maintenance job sites
  • Shadow our Account Managers to learn about selling contracts
  • Get hands-on experience with irrigation, applications and color program

Landscape Track

Students who choose the Landscape Track for their internship will:

  • Shadow our Designer/Project Managers to see how they design projects for their clients
  • Work on Residential and Commercial Landscaping projects with our Crew Members and Foreman
  • Get hands-on experience with softscaping, hardscaping, firepits, pathways and other elements of landscaping

Garden Center Track

Students who choose the Nursery Track for their internship will:

  • Work in our 20-acre Retail and Wholesale Nursery
  • Get hands-on experience with plant material
  • Learn how to care for plants and help customers
  • Shadow our Nursery Managers to learn about all aspects of running a successful nursery

 All employees will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
