Are you ready to be audacious, be bold and drive change at a rapid pace? Join us, where we’ll make a greater impact together.

What You’ll do:

Groundswell is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Workday Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise Workday HCM solutions for our government clients. This individual will lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams consisting of Workday leads and consultants, business analysts (BAs), developers, cloud and security engineers, and functional subject matter experts (SMEs) to design scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions within complex customer environments. The Workday Solution Architect will combine deep technical expertise, Workday product knowledge, and enterprise architecture experience to translate customer requirements and business objectives into comprehensive technical solutions. This individual will drive solution architecture across Workday implementations, provide technical leadership to delivery teams, and ensure solutions align with customer requirements, security standards, architectural best practices, and Groundswell’s broader solution capabilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Design Workday and comprehensive HCM solution architecture in large or complex programs, including system and application designs, software and technical architecture, and meeting strategies and objectives.
  • Provide expertise for delivery staff on a variety of issues in software design, system architecture, and solution-oriented technologies.
  • Communicate with clients and analyze business requirements and processes; make recommendations to shape future plans in solution architecture.
  • Lead and mentor cross‑functional teams (consultants, business analysts, subject matter experts, developers).
  • Lead delivery teams; mentor junior consultants and developers.
  • Drive design and development reviews of customer applications.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and optimize customer applications.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and propose improvements.
  • Support sales and delivery discussions on architecture, interoperability, and the Groundswell solution stack.
  • Deliver deep-dives, demonstrations, and customer training.
  • Write application specifications and documentation.
  • Provide level-of-effort estimates and technical scoping.
  • Anticipate risks and gaps; develop mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with product and engineering teams to drive software quality improvements.
  • Oversee project outcomes, including infrastructure and application design; ensuring that each project phase meets overall requirements.
  • Plan, establish, enhance, and maintain complex technical solutions.
  • Work Location & Travel Requirements Must be local to the Washington, DC metropolitan area (or willing to relocate) and willing to work onsite within customer SCIF environments 3-4 days per week. Approximately 5% travel within the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) region is required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain government Top Secret security clearance with SCI favorability and Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph, as required by contract.
  • Candidates who currently hold an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph will receive priority consideration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related field.
  • Workday HCM Certification required, additional Workday certification(s) preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience implementing Workday or equivalent HCM and ERP applications.
  • Experience leading 3+ Workday deployments from planning through go-live.
  • Experience leading delivery teams.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical ability.
  • In-depth knowledge of system architecture principles, including the design of scalable, reliable, and secure systems.
  • Awareness of security best practices and the ability to design solutions with a focus on security. This includes encryption, access controls, and identity management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working closely with product and engineering teams
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Authority to Operate (ATO)
  • Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) software implementations
