Job description

The Town Center at Tuckers Cove, located in Punta Gorda, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for aDirector of Recreation! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fastpaced hospitality-focused property organization. As part ofTroon, you’ll contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.
 
General Purpose:
Directs the overall performance of the Recreation department, to include guest satisfaction and financial performance.                                                   
 
Salary: $75,000 annually
 
Essential Duties:
  • Prepares and monitors annual budget, revenue goals and expenses for the Recreation areas as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, etc.) business volume forecasts and planning accordingly.
  • Reviews and analyzes various financial results/reports to monitor overall Recreation performance and take any corrective actions that may be needed.
  • Orchestrates and directs contracts, insurance and payment of outside vendors.
  • Resolves customer service issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develops internship programs to include but not limited to recruitment and training.
  • Monitors all camps, programs, and special events and helps when necessary.
  • Monitors facilities for continual quality assurance and attention to detail.
  • Generates ideas to improve and expand current facilities and continually research opportunities to increase revenue.
  • Implements policies and procedures for the Recreation department, including compliance of all company standards relating to quality of products and services.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Manages department members that may include but is not limited to: Assistant Director of Recreation, Tennis Professionals, Lifeguards, Pool Manager, Recreation Attendants, and Swim Instructors.
  • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
  • Monitors business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
  • Conducts staff meetings with subordinates.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Education/Experience:
  • Associate’s degree (AA); or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequently sits, uses hands, stoops, kneels, crawls and crouches. 
  • Regularly stands, walks, reaches with arms and hands, climbs, balances, talks and hears. 
  • Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
  • Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); in high, precarious places; with fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals. 
  • Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions. 
  • Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses:
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:        
  • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
