Job description

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides direct and indirect student-centered care and services to the students attending Reed College. This position provides the clinical expertise to ensure that all students receive high quality, inclusive, and safe care. The CMA retains the interests of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, etc., at the very core of their work with students and other staff. This position reports to the Director of the Health and Counseling Center.
Reed College offers an exceptional benefits package, including comprehensive medical and dental insurance options for you and your dependents, 403(b) retirement plan with 10% employer contribution (after one year of service), educational assistance for employees and their children, paid vacation, paid holidays, and many other campus amenities.
This is a 10 month (per year) full-time position with typical work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one-hour unpaid lunch. This is not a remote position.
Starting salary for this position starts between $21.50-$23.50 per hour. Pay offers are contingent upon experience and are determined through an internal pay assessment. This is an overtime eligible position on grade NE-4.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate the back office work of the clinic to assist and support the nurses and other providers.
  • Set up exam rooms, including cleaning and stocking supplies in between visits
  • Perform rooming such as greet patients, take vitals, verify medications, and verify allergies
  • Update electronic health records
  • Prepare students for examinations and perform/review routine screening tests
  • Administer vaccinations and medications, as directed
  • Perform safe phlebotomy, collecting and processing specimens
  • Perform basic medical procedures such as ECG, ear lavage, and other minor procedures as directed
  • Follow safety protocols and promote safety in the clinic
  • Assist with front desk receptions including answering phones and scheduling appointments as needed

Minimum qualifications
  • You have a current medical assistant certification (AAMA or CCMA)
  • You have a current Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Six months of medical assistant experience
