The main difference between an Internship Visual Artist and a Junior Graphic Designer lies in their focus and industry context. Internship Visual Artists typically work in art studios or galleries, emphasizing creative exploration and visual experimentation. Junior Graphic Designers, on the other hand, are more involved in producing marketing and branding materials within commercial settings. Both roles require a strong portfolio and relevant educational background, but their work environments and industry applications differ significantly.

What types of projects can an internship visual artist expect to work on, and how much creative input is typically allowed?

As an Internship Visual Artist, you can expect to contribute to a range of projects such as assisting with branding materials, creating digital illustrations, supporting UI/UX design tasks, or helping with marketing campaigns. While interns are often guided by senior artists or designers, there’s usually room for creative input, especially during brainstorming sessions and when presenting drafts. The extent of your creative freedom will depend on the company’s size and culture, but showing initiative and sharing ideas is encouraged and can lead to greater responsibility. Collaboration is key, as you’ll often work closely with marketing, product, and design teams to meet project goals.
