Mission Veterinary Emergency & Specialty is seeking veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for our 6-9-month training and mentorship program. We are looking for individuals who are team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable to train with us and transition into an ER position at Mission.
Mission Veterinary Emergency & Specialty and Overland Park Veterinary Emergency & Specialty are well-established, 24/7 specialty and emergency hospitals serving the Kansas City metropolitan area. Together, these modern, state-of-the-art facilities provide advanced diagnostic capabilities, cutting-edge technology, and a collaborative environment that supports a wide range of specialty and emergency services. With a team of experienced specialists and emergency clinicians, the hospitals are committed to delivering exceptional patient care while fostering a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning. As an ER Immerse participant, you'll build confidence in emergency medicine through structured mentorship, hands-on training, and the support of an experienced team dedicated to helping you successfully transition into practice.
The Ethos ER Immerse Training Program
The ER Immerse Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. Built from the ground up to be different than traditional rotating internship programs, the ERi program has been developed around a curriculum of core competencies essential for an emergency veterinarian. In addition to providing training around clinical knowledge and skills, the program also includes a focus on client and team member communication, professional skills, and life/work integration.
The ER Immerse program utilizes a hybrid training approach incorporating simulation-based didactic components into authentic training experiences with live patients. The curriculum is designed using an evidence-based strategy identifying competencies and skills deemed essential for a successful career as an emergency clinician.

Applications are accepted year-round; however, mentorship positions are limited. To maximize your chances of securing a placement, we recommend submitting your application by November 1st. Applications received after this date will be considered as opportunities remain available.
Work authorization in the United States is a requirement for the position. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship by the company, but candidates eligible for TN status may be considered.
Program Duration/Commitment
  • 6-9-month training program ideally beginning June 2027, but can accommodate your preferred start date
  • 1-year commitment as an ER clinician at Mission following training
