At Raytheon, the Effector RF Design Department is seeking a RF Subsystems Design Electrical Engineer to work with a variety of programs as a contributor to detailed design, simulation, product development, and initial product testing.  The successful candidate will have educational experience and professional interest designing RF and Microwave hardware, including transmitters, receivers, and exciters. This role includes design, test, calibration and analysis activities that span preliminary design to integration.  Products we develop support radar, datalink, and other RF applications on a variety of tactical missile programs.  Critical to this role will be designing for challenging mechanical constraints and extreme environments.

All Candidates will work within a larger team at Raytheon. Candidates perform meaningful engineering tasks for their assigned projects and will also have access to a variety of career development opportunities. These include access to technical mentors and the ability to “shadow” experienced professionals in order to learn about real industry positions.

What You Will Do:

  • Support analysis, design, development, and integration of transmitters, receivers, exciters, radios, antennas, and radomes.
  • Work in a lab to accomplish system characterization as well as module verification and integration of sensitive RF Hardware.
  • Develop system level models of RF devices including radars, sensors, radios, and telemeters
  • Model RF subcomponent non-idealities and predict upper-level system performance impacts
  • Perform generic RF modeling including link budget, system sensitivity, and waveform design
  • Provide engineering support through participation in project design reviews, peer reviews, briefings to internal leadership and external customers for all phases of development tasks.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Electronics, electromagnetics, signal processing, and RF systems coursework.
  • Coursework or Research experience with modeling and measurement of RF components or systems.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Demonstrable proficiency in fusion of research/analysis and measurement/validation of novel RF systems
  • Experience developing calibration/compensation methodologies for physical RF sensing devices
  • Experience with any of the following test equipment: Network Analyzer, RF Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Phase Noise Analyzer, RF IQ/Signal Analyzer, RF Power Meter, High-Frequency Oscilloscope
  • Experience with any of the following tools: MATLAB, SystemVue, Genesys, MathCad, Computer Simulation Technologies (CST), Microwave Design Studio, High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and Advanced Design System Pathwave (ADS).

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
