Navico Group- Tulsa, OK - Engineering Intern

Position Overview:

We are seeking an Engineering Validation Intern to support the new product development and sustaining efforts of the Navico Group team. Activities will include creating and maintaining documentation along with supporting production efforts for the Navico Group Connect production team. This position is based out of Tulsa, OK. They will be tasked with general maintenance of lab equipment, assisting the Engineering Team with prototype development and new product testing, and providing technical assistance with test equipment operation. They will also be responsible for the care and safe operation of the Navico Group Tulsa boat fleet.

Essential Functions:

  • Execute product validation testing with detailed test reporting
  • Communicate test data and issues with engineering team by utilizing the test request system
  • Build prototypes according to engineering data, utilizing electrical and mechanical principles
  • Design and fabricate test fixtures
  • Provide technical assistance and resolution when mechanical, electrical, and acoustical test problems arise
  • Perform basic modifications to electronic circuits
  • Assist with on-water product validation testing
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement proper repair solutions
  • Operation and maintenance of the Navico Group Tulsa boat and vehicle fleet
  • General shop and lab upkeep
  • Plan, coordinate, and prioritize many projects simultaneously
  • Contribute to decision-making that affects corporate strategy
  • This internship will be a full-time commitment from May to August

Internship Projects to include:

  • Assist in implementation of visual work instruction platform
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications:

  • Working towards a Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent
  • Basic machine shop experience (vertical mill, lathe, general shop tools)
  • Must be able to quickly adapt to changing directives in a competitive environment
  • Experience working in lab environment (environmental chamber, electrical, mechanical tests) is a plus
  • Able to work independently and within groups
  • Able to synthesize a solution when design inputs are vague or incomplete
  • Comfortable in multi-tasking situations
  • Comfortable with priority shifts
  • Selfless, can-do attitude, willing to learn
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States immediately, without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Experience with the creation of work instructions
  • Experience in boating and marine electronics is a plus
  • Familiarity with marine and/or RV products in professional or recreational environment
  • Experience with new product development cycles
  • Shop/bench fabrication and/or assembly skills

  • Feedback and Performance Reviews: As a co-op or intern, you will receive feedback and performance reviews throughout your assignment. We value the importance for interns to understand their progress and areas for improvement.
  • Ability to independently lift up to 50 lbs. (e.g., moving and mounting trolling motors to test fixtures and boats)
  • Ability to work in various outdoor environments (e.g., hot-weather, on-water testing, as well as work in a garage setting)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., rigging and outfitting boats)

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $27.00 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will vary depending on multiple factors including year in school/credits earned, degree, job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
