Job description

MUST BE AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for operating a rough terrain mobile crane to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment in an industrial or construction site setting. May operate other material handling equipment necessary to complete required material movement. This role requires strict adherence to safety protocols, site-specific lifting plans, and operational best practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate rough terrain mobile cranes safely and efficiently, following all manufacturer specifications and site safety regulations.

  • Conduct pre-operational checks and daily inspections on the crane and rigging gear to ensure all components are in good working order, and to check ground and weather conditions to make sure it is safe.

  • Collaborate with the Supervisor, Riggers, and Signal Person during lifting operations to ensure the load is rigged and moved correctly.

  • Interpret and apply information from load charts, lifting plans, and daily work instructions to calculate load weights, boom angle, and radius.

  • Maintain accurate logbooks and records of daily crane usage, inspections, and maintenance activities.

  • Perform basic routine maintenance and minor repairs on the crane as required.

  • Ensure the work area is clear and safe before commencing any lifting activity.

  • Communicate effectively with ground personnel using standard hand and voice signals.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to, cleaning, trash/scrap removal, and other production related tasks.

  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with customers, co-workers, clients, and supervisors.

  • Works in a safe and conscientious manner

Qualifications:
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

MUST BE AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL)

  • Certification by a recognized crane operating authority (e.g., NCCCO, CIC)

  • At least two years crane operating experience, or crane operation and rigging training

  • Exhibits proficiency in safe rigging and crane operation

  • Experience with various crane models and lifting capacities is preferred

  • Mechanical aptitude for performing minor equipment repairs

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to work well as part of a team in a high pressure environment

  • Ability to comprehend the relationship between objects, to gauge distance, and to navigate through space

Additional Information

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The ability to stand continuously is essential with occasional walking and sitting. The nature of the position will require the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects (60–100lbs) to climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling. Repetitive finger motions are required. Vision requirements include, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works near moving mechanical parts and primarily in outside weather conditions. Is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Noise level in the work environment may be very loud.
