Improving how we live, work, and move today and for the next generation! We know that the only way a business thrives is if our people are thriving. That’s why we always put our people first. Our global, diverse team would be happy to support you and challenge you to grow in new ways. Who knows where our shared journey will take you?
Who designs your future? You do.
Are you looking for a 10–12-week internship where you can showcase your technical aptitude and passion for problem-solving to ensure customers can work in a comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient environment? Does gaining hands-on experience, real-world skills, and valuable knowledge while developing yourself professionally sound exciting to you? Then look to the Siemens Mobility Internship Program!
We are looking for a Customer Services Data Analysis Intern. This position will be based at our Wilmington/New Castle area branch in Delaware.
During your summer journey with us, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself as a Data Analysis Internship in the Rail Asset Management and Performance Center (RAMP) where you will learn how to monitor railroad vehicle fleet performance (Locos and trains), analyze equipment failure data (remote connectivity), assist in the team in various cases of connecting the dots from technical failures and service interruptions to repair & fix, diagnostic and driving down to root cause for the originating source of the problem for our Siemens trains to make them ever more reliable.
If you are a rising junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree, live near Wilmington / New Castle, Delaware, and are ready to discover the amazing opportunities that the rail industry has to offer then look no further.
A little bit about us:
Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.
How does Customer Service play into the big picture?
The RAMP team features a mechanical desk which acts as a first level of support, assisting train crew with troubleshooting over the phone in case something goes wrong while on the ‘road’; Data Analysts who crunch all remote diagnostic data coming from our vehicles and Performance Manager who continuously drive for improvement of our equipment.
What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Learn about our standard processes.
  • Work with all the different RAMP groups; starting with the mechanical desk to follow train operations in Wilmington, DE, then having the option to move on to our expert data analytics team or Engineering teams in our Siemens New Castle, DE facility. Continue to work through the processing and interpretation of data and insights by working with our performance and change managers to make final decisions related to important business outcomes.
  • Learn about and create Weibull analysis
  • Learn about analytical programs such as Power BI and Spotfire; create reports and dashboards that contribute to actionable outcomes
  • Learn about how a locomotive works through training and shadowing and through the assignment of relevant tasks to build up your practical knowledge.

Who Should Apply?
