Position Overview:
Under the general direction of the Senior Accountant the Accounting Intern is responsible for completing sound financial analysis and preparing regular reports and tasks based on organizational objectives. The Accounting Intern may provide backup in the absence of other accounting staff. As such, you will be expected to act as a Redwood brand ambassador, promote our brand and provide the best resident experience possible. All Redwood employees are expected to conduct all organizational business and practices in accordance to Redwood company

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare small portfolio of monthly financial packages.
  • Verify taxes are escrowed by lender or self-imposed escrow.
  • Work with fixed assets to verify cost, assets, book values, and miscellaneous items
  • Review replacement reserve requirements and apply for any funds to be reimbursed accordingly.
  • Assist with Gross Potential Rent issues
  • Assist with Yardi clean up/audit issues.
  • Participates in accounting department meetings via telephone or in person.
  • All other related job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Education & Certifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Computer literacy required, including strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Degree Seeking College Student, Sophomore Level or Above.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers, desk phones, cell phones, photocopiers, etc.
  • Must be able to navigate stairs occasionally, particularly in the event of elevator outages or during emergency situations.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time, stand, bend, and walk with the ability to lift 30 pounds occasionally.

Attendance and Scheduling:

  • Punctuality and consistent attendance are essential for success in this role, and employees must adhere to set start times and assigned schedules.
  • Occasional travel may be required for team outings, training sessions, or company-sponsored events, estimated at less than 5% annually.

  • Job is performed in a professional office environment.
  • Exposure to varying indoor temperatures depending location in building and season.
  • Combination of natural daylight and standard office lighting throughout the workspace.
  • Movement across multiple flooring types, including tile, carpet, and other transitions.
  • An open workspace layout, defined by a shared space without traditional enclosed offices or high-walled cubicles, may introduce distractions or reduce privacy.
  • Possibility of shared desk spaces.
