Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job Description

The Maintenance Technician will be required to follow procedures and document work, hold safety in the highest regard, be highly motivated, willing to learn & required to perform preventative/ corrective maintenance, in accordance with a total preventative maintenance (TPM) program, on various types of Commercial Jet Engine Test Cell equipment.

Military backgrounds in aircraft maintenance, avionics, electrical/mechanical systems, power generation, or ground support equipment align well with this role.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Preventative Maintenance Inspections
  • Corrective Maintenance Repair
  • Failure Analysis
  • Operation of Specialized Equipment
  • Setup, installation, calibration, documentation, and operation of analog and digital instrumentation, data acquisition, and processing systems
  • Contributing to the investigation, correction and documentation of instrumentation or system malfunctions
  • Actively participate in multi-skills development
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Assist with safety and environmental inspections to maintain facility compliance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of military service
  • Associate's degree in a technical field from an accredited school or institution {OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of technical experience (including experience in industrial maintenance)
  • Physical requirements: Regularly lift/push/pull up to [50] lbs, stand/walk for extended periods; climb ladders/stands; work at heights and in highnoise environments; wear required PPE (hearing/eye protection, safety footwear, etc.)

    • Strong Mechanical, Electrical, and Hydraulic Skills
    • Instrumentation and PLC controls experience
    • Experience with hoist systems and their controls
    • Experience with maintenance of industrial electrical systems
    • Experience with NFPA 70E
    • Experience with operation of mobile equipment (forklift, telehandler, personnel lift)
    • Computerized maintenance management experience (Ex. Maximo, Oracle, SAP)
    • Strong troubleshooting experience
