Job description

QTS' summer internship program will provide you first hand experience into the fast paced world of the data center industry by providing weekly lunch and learns, a comprehensive orientation program, and site based activities, socials and volunteering events. Every intern will be assigned initiatives tied to real QTS objectives helping with anything pertaining to the whole life-cycle of a data center build and/or company operations.

The Technical Project Management Intern will gain hands on experience on how to act as a technical contributor and/or Technical Project Manager across a variety of initiatives. Your responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:

Technology Intern:

  • Leverage Project Management tools like Asana, Monday.com, MS Project, SmartSheets and more

  • Design project timelines and assign/identify deliverables

  • Technical writing overview

  • Researching proposed solutions and workflows

  • Data cleansing

  • Maintain updated budgets, schedules, and status reports for assigned projects.

  • Develop scopes of work for design, configuration, and commissioning services.

  • Participate in procurement and project cost estimates.

  • Develop value statements for potential innovation initiatives (AI/ML/Automation).

  • Assist with data interpretation, correlation, visualizations, and reporting.

  • Work on technology procurement and delivery processes with the strategic procurement team.

  • Monitor the status and availability of in-production technologies.

  • Respond to break-fix issues and coordinate long-term corrective actions.

  • Develop and populate new database structures.

  • Track and resolve security vulnerabilities and associated risks.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, STEM, Data Science or a related field.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint for presentations and Excel for data analysis and budgeting.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Must be a US Citizen

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current full-time enrollment in one of QTS's partner institutions (listed below) or a Blackstone Launchpad affiliate school:

    • Auburn University

    • Kansas State University

    • Georgia State University

    • Southern Adventist University

    • Texas A&M University

    • University of Kansas

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in construction or data center industry highly preferred.

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

  • Exposure to Project Management responsibilities or principles

  • Involvement in community activities outside of schoolwork (athletics, clubs, volunteering, part-time employment).

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.

The estimated pay range for this role, if based in Virginia, is:

$19.50 - 29.82
