Job description

POSITION TITLE: Program Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Youth Services

LOCATION(S): Bushwick Hylan Community

REPORTS TO: Program Director/Assistant Director

SALARY RANGE: $22/hour

DATE: Summer 2026 only

SCHEDULE: Summer Program Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 am-11 pm, Saturday-Sunday 3 pm-11 pm. School Year Program Hours: Monday-Friday, 2 pm -10 pm, Saturday 10 am - 9 pm. Candidates are expected to work an 8-hr shift within program hours, with exact working schedules varying based on program needs.

JOB SUMMARY: Program Coordinator manages and oversees the youth programs in summer camp and/or evening teen center and weekend programming at Cornerstone facilities. The Program Coordinator ensures the smooth operation of program activities, supervises staff and maintains a safe and engaging environment for guests, participants and staff. In addition, The Program Coordinator ensures that the program is in compliance with DOH/DYCD/GSS policies and regulations

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, some college or college degree preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience working with middle school and high school youths in a supervisory role.
  • Valid CPR/AED and First Aid certification through recognized accrediting body preferred
  • Familiarity with DYCD Connect is preferred

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidate must successfully complete the following: NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening, NYS Clearance Review Background Check, SEL, 3 Reference Checks, Physical w/updated TB test

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the centerโ€™s operation and ensure a safe and positive environment for youth participants in summer camp and/or teen and weekend center programming. This includes enforcing rules/policies, managing and de-escalate conflicts and responding to emergencies.
  • Supervise staff, interns and volunteers and ensure that they are trained, engaged and perform their assigned duties effectively.
  • Effectively communicate with youths, families and other stakeholders, building positive relationships and addressing concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, activities and incidents.
  • Input data onto DYCD Connect and communicate with DYCD program managers and deputies.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Coordinate and manage events, including planning, logistics and execution.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners to expand opportunities for program participants and families.
  • Clean, organize and maintain workspace and shared spaces throughout the facility.
  • Coordinate community relations efforts and participate in outreach activities.
  • Assist in the planning, organization and execution of community events.
  • Other assignments as required by the program director.
