Job description

The Director of Supply Chain & Inventory Management is responsible for leading and optimizing Valin Corporation's end-to-end supply chain operations, with a strong focus on inventory strategy, purchasing, forecasting, and warehouse performance. This role drives operational effectiveness, working capital improvement, and service excellence across the business. The Director partners cross-functionally to develop scalable processes, strengthen supplier performance, improve inventory accuracy, and support profitable growth through disciplined planning and execution. This position also plays a key role in leveraging data, reporting, and system capabilities to improve decision-making and overall supply chain performance.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall supply chain and inventory management strategy to support company growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement inventory planning, forecasting, demand planning, and replenishment strategies to improve service levels and optimize inventory investment.
  • Monitor and improve inventory performance, including inventory turns, aging, excess and obsolete inventory, and inventory accuracy.
  • Lead efforts to reduce inventory write-offs and implement structured mitigation strategies for excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Direct purchasing activities and provide leadership to the purchasing team to ensure effective sourcing, procurement discipline, and supplier performance management.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve lead times, pricing, service, and reliability.
  • Establish consistent processes for purchase order timing, supplier accountability, and forecast alignment.
  • Oversee warehouse operations to ensure high levels of inventory accuracy, fulfillment performance, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and improve warehouse processes to support business growth and changing customer demand.
  • Develop dashboards, reporting tools, and key performance indicators to provide visibility into supply chain and inventory performance.
  • Utilize ERP systems, including P21 or similar platforms, to improve planning, reporting, and operational execution.
  • Use Excel and Power BI to analyze data, support forecasting, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Create and maintain reports, models, and analyses using Excel, including formulas and other data analysis tools, to support forecasting and inventory management.
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to align supply chain execution with revenue, margin, and working capital objectives.
  • Build accountability across the team by setting clear expectations, measuring results, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational discipline.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, Finance, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-12 years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, inventory management, purchasing, operations, or a related function.
  • Experience in distribution, industrial, manufacturing, or semiconductor-related environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated success improving inventory performance, reducing working capital, and leading purchasing and supplier strategy.
  • Strong leadership experience with a proven ability to build, develop, and manage high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to connect operational decisions to margin, cash flow, and business performance.
  • Experience using ERP systems such as P21 or similar business systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience using formulas and data analysis tools to support forecasting, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Experience with Power BI, including the ability to create and interpret dashboards and reports used for forecasting and data analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive change, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Capabilities and Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a general office environment and use standard office equipment, including a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, and printer.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working at a desk or computer.
  • Ability to stand and walk periodically throughout the workday, including occasional visits to warehouse or operational areas.
  • Ability to speak, hear, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in virtual meetings.
  • Ability to view and analyze information on a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, as needed, to company locations, suppliers, or other business meetings.
