We're seeking a second residency-trained or board-certified Criticalist to join our growing team. You'll work alongside specialists in ER and Critical Care, Surgery, Neurology, Anesthesiology, and Internal Medicine who share a commitment to collaboration, communication, and outstanding patient care. MVES proudly supports a rotating internship and surgical internship program. Interns participate in weekly radiology rounds, daily ICU rounds, and formal presentations throughout the year. Our commitment to mentorship has helped recent interns secure ECC residencies, specialty residencies, and advanced internship opportunities.

Mission Veterinary Emergency & Specialty operates from a 22,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art specialty and emergency hospital designed to support advanced patient care and collaboration across services. Our expansive ICU is equipped with cage-side oxygen and suction capabilities, oxygen cages, advanced patient monitoring systems, and mechanical ventilation to provide comprehensive critical care support. The department also features a dedicated ICU ultrasound for AFAST examinations, infusion pumps, internal and external defibrillation capabilities, and cardiac pacing equipment. Supported by a highly skilled and dedicated ICU nursing team, our facility provides the resources, technology, and clinical support needed to deliver exceptional care to the most complex and critically ill patients.

In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Manage high-acuity emergency and ICU patients, including triage and stabilization.
  • Lead or participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to protocol development.
  • Perform advanced therapies, including mechanical ventilation and advanced critical care treatments utilizing a fully equipped ICU.
  • Support program growth initiatives and help expand the impact of the Critical Care service within the hospital.
  • Engage in ongoing CE and mentorship opportunities while helping train interns and emergency clinicians.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
What You Bring
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification in Emergency & Critical Care (DACVECC) or residency-trained in Emergency & Critical Care.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
