Job description


The Marketing Data Science & Analytics team partners with Marketing, Product, and Business stakeholders to turn data into actionable business insights. The team is responsible for campaign measurement, reporting, business intelligence, forecasting, customer analytics, and strategic research that help Navy Federal understand marketing performance, member behavior, and business outcomes. Our work supports executive decision-making by translating complex data into clear recommendations that improve member acquisition, engagement, and growth. The Summer Associate will work alongside analysts and business intelligence professionals on real-world business problems, gaining exposure to marketing analytics, reporting automation, data visualization, and strategic analysis. The role will involve analyzing large datasets, developing insights, creating presentations for leadership, and supporting initiatives that help answer key business questions.
Potential Summer Associate projects may include:
  • Analyzing marketing campaign performance to identify drivers of member acquisition, product adoption, and engagement.
  • Supporting the development of dashboards and automated reporting solutions that improve efficiency and business visibility.
  • Conducting exploratory analyses to answer ambiguous business questions and uncover actionable insights from member and marketing data.
  • Evaluating customer behavior and segmentation trends to support marketing strategy and targeting decisions.
  • Assisting with measurement frameworks for major initiatives and product launches, including defining key performance indicators and success metrics.
  • Creating executive-ready presentations that communicate findings, recommendations, and business impact to leadership.
  • Researching emerging analytics techniques and tools that can improve reporting, measurement, and decision-making processes.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2027 and ending in August 2027 Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
Responsibilities
  • Support the analysis of marketing, member, and business performance data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Conduct research and exploratory analysis to help answer strategic business questions.
  • Collaborate with analysts and business partners on marketing measurement and business intelligence projects.
  • Gather, organize, and validate data from multiple sources to support analytical initiatives.
  • Help evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, member programs, and business initiatives.
  • Translate data findings into clear, actionable recommendations for business partners.
  • Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and leadership presentations.
  • Present project findings and recommendations to team members and leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Gain exposure to business intelligence, data analytics, marketing strategy, and financial services operations.

Qualifications
  • Must be currently pursuing master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to draw clear, logical conclusions and recommendations from data.
  • Experience working with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets to identify trends, insights, and opportunities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
  • Interest in analytics, business intelligence, marketing strategy, or data-driven decision making.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and analytical techniques.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Coursework in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Marketing, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, R, or other analytical programming languages.
  • Experience creating dashboards, reports, or data visualizations for business audiences.
  • Previous internship, academic project, or leadership experience demonstrating analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
