Job description

Position Summary:

Albright College values its talented, diverse community and seeks to attract, hire, and support employees who consistently and actively embrace equity and inclusion. Responsible for the preparation and distribution of all athletic news and records to the media, college publications, and affiliated conferences regarding Albright’s 24 men’s and women’s varsity sports. 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Prepares & manages departmental operational budget. 
  2. Prepare regular news releases and feature stories for distribution to local media, hometown papers, intercollegiate opponents, boosters and other interested publics. Compile statistics and report game results. 
  3. Coordinate the production of athletics publications including media guides, game programs, posters and schedule cards; maintain consistency in design and in the use of athletics department logos.
  4. Manage all aspects of the department’s electronic media projects, including live internet broadcasts of and social media posts.
  5. Oversee maintenance of the athletics web site ensuring that all content is accurate, current and consistent with approved style guidelines.
  6. Supervise Sports Information support staff for home athletics contests. Secure necessary arrangements for media, scouts, officials, statisticians and other press box personnel for home games. Mentor interns and student assistants assigned sports information responsibilities.
  7. Maintain complete historical records, including photography and video archives, for the athletics department. 
  8. Participate in planning and preparation for special events such as, Hall of Fame, Homecoming, and the Athletics Awards Ceremony.
  9. Game Day Setup
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Co-Director of Athletics 

Qualifications/Prerequisites:

1. COMMUNICATION

  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer skills; be familiar with web publishing and publication.

2. SKILLS

  1. Exceptional problem-solving skills, ability to multitask, meet deadlines and ability to resolve issues under intense time constraints. 
  2. Demonstrated excellence in sports journalism and working knowledge of sport statistics software are also required. 
  3. Experience in print lay out, desktop publishing, web page design and sport broadcasting is highly desired. 
  4. Demonstrated commitment to building an inclusive and equitable Albright community, as described in Albright College’s Inclusivity and Equity Statement.

3. EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCE

  1. Minimum three years’ experience in sports information or related field.

  1. Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field preferred.
