Job description

MMI Engineered Solutions is seeking a motivated engineering student to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern. This hands-on internship offers real-world exposure to how a manufacturing plant operates behind the scenes. The selected candidate will gain experience using our IQMS (ERP) system for asset and inventory management, learn the procurement process for maintenance and spare parts, and develop a foundational understanding of how injection molding machines and plant equipment function. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined student who wants practical, operations-based experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and catalog company assets at our Saline and Warren location, and upload them into IQMS for asset management tracking
  • Establish and update preventative maintenance schedules in IQMS according to manufacturer specifications
  • Assist in improving and organizing Maintenance, Engineering, and Tooling inventory systems
  • Implement Kanban systems for critical spare parts to improve availability and efficiency
  • Support Maintenance with large repairs and equipment-related projects
  • Participate in initiatives that promote safety, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement
  • Support additional engineering, tooling, and maintenance projects as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field preferred)
  • Mechanically inclined with a strong understanding of how equipment and systems function
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to complete projects accurately and on schedule
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
Work Environment:
  • Hands-on manufacturing-floor environment
  • Exposure to machinery, tooling, and maintenance operations
  • Standing and walking for extended periods in areas that may be hot, noisy, or dusty
