Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will administer occupational therapy treatment programs or portions thereof as planned and directed by a licensed Occupational Therapist. You will be responsible for correct execution of therapeutic modalities and exercise regimes to patients and will closely communicate and collaborate with the licensed Occupational Therapist.  

• You execute patient treatment programs safely and effectively to achieve set goals 

• You will maintain standards for treatment procedures and professional ethics established by the TOTA, AOTA, and TVOTE 

• You will direct techs and students’ treatments according to departmental policies and formally evaluate student performance during the affiliation as required by academic institutions 

• You will execute treatments and adjust treatment time based on diagnosis and patient need; Able to perform treatment load as outlined by the program/departmental standard 

• You will demonstrate ability to modify therapeutic interventions such as patient’s abilities, skill changes to meet goals 

• You will respond to acute changes inpatient’s status and collaborate with licensed physical therapists to modify treatment techniques as indicated.  

• You will follow departmental policies and procedures for documenting patient progress 

• You will complete daily charges and treatment records according to departmental policies/procedures 

• You will initiate incident reports and reviews with supervisor according to policies/procedures 

• You will demonstrate commitment to professional and departmental/program growth  

Job Qualifications  

Experience  

• Knowledge and experience in Rehabilitation field work or rehabilitation internship 

Education 

• Associate’s degree in Occupational Therapy or Occupation Therapy Assistant Certificate 

Licenses and Certifications  

• Current Basic Life Support certification 

• Current Texas Occupational Therapy Assistant license
