JOB SUMMARY
Produces machined parts by programming and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machines in a state of the art Toolroom. Troubleshoots minor operating difficulties including: analyzing machine operations, locating troublesome elements within machines, making necessary mechanical and software adjustments to eliminate quality variations and mechanical malfunctions. The CNC Machinist inspects products, maintains equipment as necessary, and completes corresponding paperwork. The ideal candidate should have experience setting up amp; running CNC Mills, lathes and surface grinders, Esprit CAM software also in use. Experience running conventional EDM equipment, as well as Espirit Knowledge a plus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Sets up and operates CNC machines, performs machine functions on metal work pieces in a safe manner (Tsugami Mill, Okuma Lathe, Studer 5 Axis Grinder, Kellenberger CNC).
  • Takes apart and reverse engineers parts.
  • Measures dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
  • Mounts, installs, aligns, and secures tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Stops machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.
  • Monitors machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications in order to detect malfunctions.
  • Records down time, maintains production records, and other data entry as needed.
  • Provides timely and complete communication to all operational and functional teams regarding quality or mechanical issues.
  • Makes adjustments to machines to maintain quality standards.
  • Keeps tooling and machine area(s) clean throughout the shift and prepares machine area(s) for subsequent shift.
  • Consistently meets production and quality standards and works with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) in mind.
  • Other duties as assigned to support production needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5 years CNC machining/programming experience.
  • Fixture building experience is required.
  • Must read G-code and have CNC programming experience.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings to quality check work is required.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are required.
  • Ability to use both hands to pick-up and manipulate small parts simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice or on weekends.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, standing or walking most of the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the shift., and team lift up to 75lbs.
  • Can work successfully in a team environment and is willing to take direction from others.
  • Ability to function under pressure without panic.
  • Understanding of quality control concepts and processes within a manufacturing environment.
