About the role

Design, prototype, and test mechanical components, equipment, and products within a collaborative engineering environment. Apply mechanical design principles and manufacturing techniques to support project objectives and deliver high quality solutions. Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established instructions, standards, and guidelines. The Associate Engineer, Mechanical works under close supervision while building technical expertise and contributing to team success.


Responsibilities
  • Complete the product design, analysis and development of mechanical components, systems and equipment, including assembly and part drawings as well as other required documentation from design concept to manufacturing release
  • Use a CAD system to generate designs and documentation; may use computer assisted engineering software to design and evaluate mechanical designs
  • Create functional prototype samples as needed to validate designs
  • Work with Document Control to create a document package that specifies the complete design and implementation of a product, including, but not limited to 2-D drawings, Bills of Materials and Engineering Change Orders
  • Responsible for implementing documentation updates and changes to existing products
  • Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; test finished- product and system capabilities; confirm fabrication, assembly, and installation processes; generate testing and validation plans for designs and execute on them
  • Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Analyze current designs and products for improvements and/or troubleshooting
  • Research various mechanical engineering issues including parts and processes
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design concepts and manufacture of products utilizing high volume production parts and assemblies, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to understand and apply FEA and FMEA to product design and development
  • Familiar with commonly used drafting terminology and symbols
  • Basic familiarity with PC Board and electronics packaging
  • Basic familiarity with regulatory compliance and validation testing methods
  • Solution oriented; able to think creatively to solve problems
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Prior internship or co-op experience preferred
  • Experience reading electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Experience in 3D CAD and drafting, Solid Works preferred

Travel
  • Up to 10%; both domestic and international travel required
