Job description

Job Description
The Role
As a Software Engineer on the Galileo team, you will help build and improve the infrastructure and technology that powers testing and evaluation workflows for vehicle release and autonomous driving stack validation and verification. You'll contribute to data processing pipelines and internal tools used for large-scale analysis, working on systems that directly support AV / ADAS development.
This is an early-career/new graduate role designed for candidates who have recently completed or will be completing their degree by June 2026. You will work closely with experienced engineers to design, build, test, and maintain systems while growing your skills in distributed systems, data workflows, and developer tooling.
About the Organization
The GM AV Simulation team builds world-class testing and analysis products and technologies to help accelerate development of autonomous vehicles and broader vehicle software systems. Our customers range from AV developers understanding the effects of their code on vehicle behavior, to data engineers using our pipelines for evaluation insights, to release teams tracking top-line performance metrics. AV Simulation aims to deliver intuitive user experiences for robotics and AI engineers that help move GM toward a driverless future. Galileo is building the core infrastructure and architecture to support testing at scale. As part of this team, you will contribute to infrastructure for test organization, test triggering, test analysis workflows, and related data pipelines.
What You'll Do
  • Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of software systems that support large-scale autonomous driving evaluation workflows
  • Help build and improve infrastructure used to simulate and analyze large volumes of driving data
  • Write reliable, maintainable code with support from teammates through code reviews, testing, and continuous integration
  • Partner with engineers across the stack to develop internal tools and services for test execution, analysis, and reporting
  • Debug issues, improve performance, and support operational excellence for production systems
  • Learn and apply software engineering best practices in a collaborative and inclusive team environment
  • Support GM engineering culture through curiosity, ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • Currently pursuing, or recently completed a BS or MS in Computer Science, Robotics, Software Engineering, or a related technical field; degree must be completed prior to joining GM.
  • Strong programming fundamentals and experience building software through coursework, internships, research, or substantial personal projects.
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Python, Go, JavaScript, or C++.
  • Understanding of software development fundamentals, such as testing, debugging, version control, and code reviews.
  • Interest in backend systems, data pipelines, or distributed systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Passion for autonomous driving technology and its potential impact on the world.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge
  • Internship, research, or project experience in robotics, AV / ADAS, simulation, or developer infrastructure
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
  • Exposure to relational databases such as PostgreSQL and analytics platforms such as BigQuery or Redshift
  • Experience building internal tools, dashboards, or data processing workflows
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as Node or React
  • Interest in scientific analysis, large-scale evaluation, or data-driven engineering workflow

Compensation
  • The salary range for this role is $99,400 and $153,900. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.

Benefits:
  • GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs. Benefit options include medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Accounts, retirement savings plan, sickness and accident benefits, life insurance, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, employee assistance program, GM vehicle discounts and more.

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week (or other frequency dictated by their manager).
This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
