The Role:

The Test Architect position in theBrake Controlsteam will design, implement, andmaintaina comprehensive testing strategy for software projects covering all aspects of the testing pyramid, and champion built-in quality initiatives/methodologies such as shift left, automation, BDD, TDD,etc.The Brake Controls organization ownsGM's brake controls product with end-to-end responsibility forbrakesoftware, controls, calibration, deployment, and system performance in support of GM's embedded controls mission.GM'sinhousebrakesoftware& controls developmentisalsoreferred to as IBAC.

What You'll do:

  • Create, own, andmaintaina comprehensive testing strategy forBrakesoftware covering all aspects of the testing pyramid and aligned to vehicle program milestones and organizational strategies
  • Work with developers, test engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure the testing strategy is implemented throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Ensure alignment with internal and external Process Compliance (CPoE, Global Validation, ISO26262, ISO9000)
  • Champion cross-functional flow improvement with Systems Engineering, System Safety, Global Validation, Calibration
  • Utilize deep understanding of simulation/automation tools (Cosim,Autobot, etc.) to create or support creation of automated tests cases
  • Utilize deep understanding of simulation/automation tools and systems knowledge to support/train otherIBACengineers
  • Analyze, reviewresultsand support documentation of test failures via PRTS,Jiraetc.
  • LeadIBACtest issue resolution initiatives as discovered
  • Author validation reports (CG190 etc.) as needed
  • Stay abreast of the current industry trends and define GM direction
  • Communicate vision, roadmap, status, and improvement opportunities tothe seniormanagement.
  • Lead best practice and process improvement initiatives among software community
  • Support regulatory and compliance relevant activities forIBACsoftware features
  • Performs as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Built-in quality, Solution Compliance, and Continuous Delivery principles.
  • Activelyparticipatesin hiring, development of technical questionnaires, resume reviews, and interviewing
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Foster the adoption and growth of AI in the testing domain through familiarity with the use of Agents

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • BS inMechanical/Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Equivalent
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-relatedarearequiredwith minimum 7 years of experience
  • Proficient with Built-In Quality initiatives/methodologies such as shift left, automation, BDD, TDD, etc.
  • Proficient in Python programming language
  • Proficient in test automation framework (Autobot,Autoval, etc.)
  • Proficient with GM's simulation environment (CoSIM/GMSIM)
  • Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Jira and other configuration management, versioncontroland code quality tools
  • Working knowledge of embedded software development using C/Matlab/Simulink and associated tools (Jira, DNG, Rhapsody,GITetc.)
  • High levelof oral and written communication skills
  • High levelof interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goalsrequired
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and work autonomously
  • Valid US Driver License

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)

  • MS in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Equivalent
  • Experience with vehicle and bench validation atcomponent, subsystem, or system level
  • Experience with data logging tools (Vehicle Spy, CANALYZERToolsetc.)
  • Quick to learn, ambitious, and willing to work hands-on with GM's vehicles and benches.
  • Agile development framework knowledge/experience

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
