Job Description
**To apply, you must provide a resume, cover letter, and one work sample. Only strong applications that clear this stage will be invited to the next stage, which is a design screen.
Job Overview
The AGS Research & Development Team is launching a first-of-its-kind training program to discover and cultivate the next generation of slot game designers. We're not just rolling the dice here. We're seeking intellectually curious, creative, and analytically sharp individuals who are passionate about games-even if they've never worked in the gaming industry before.
If you've ever felt torn between your creative and technical sides-maybe you're a visual artist who geeks out on Excel, a jazz musician with a computer science degree, or a math teacher who builds indie games-this is your chance to stop playing Tetris with your talents. We're building a team of "two-sport athletes" who will change the game-for the better. You'll join a skunkworks-style studio that builds fast, thinks critically, and supports each other like a high-performing team.
This is a serious professional opportunity for recent graduates (bachelor's or graduate degrees) or those ready for a meaningful career change. The Fellowship begins with a rigorous 3-month training intensive, then transitions into active game design work-collaborating with a close-knit cohort and being mentored by seasoned industry professionals. Our goal is ambitious: design and release your first game within your first year. From there, high performers will have clear opportunities for advancement within our global R&D team.
What You'll Do:
Months 1-3: Immersive Training
  • Participate in a full-time, in-person training program at AGS's Atlanta office beginning Monday, July 20, 2026
  • Build fluency in the fundamentals of slot game design: math modeling, game mechanics, player psychology, and regulatory frameworks
  • Develop applied skills in the creative and analytical tools that support slot design: art direction, animation, music production, design thinking, and behavioral psychology
  • Collaborate with industry experts to pitch, prototype, and pressure-test game design concepts in a high-feedback environment

Months 4-12: Active Design and Production After training, the cohort transitions into operating as an internal game prototyping studio. You'll rotate through the design and creation of new games-taking on real ownership across roles that we define together. This is your chance to shape not just the games, but the future of how they're made.
Following your first 1-2 years, you'll be positioned to pursue a range of specialized roles within AGS R&D based on your skills, interests, and demonstrated performance during the Fellowship.
Skills/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in technical or creative discipline (e.g. engineering, computer science, science, fine arts, mathematics, etc.)
  • Comfort/ fluency in probability and statistics
  • Evidence of excellence in both a creative discipline (e.g., writing, music, design, animation) and a technical/analytical discipline (e.g., math, engineering, programming)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • A demonstrated track record of execution-you finish what you start and take ownership of outcomes
  • Love the Game: Passion for games and a considered perspective on what makes them engaging
  • Fluency with emerging tools and workflows, including AI-we're looking for candidates who see AI as a creative and analytical accelerator, not a threat
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or hold a valid work authorization

Bonus Skills (not required, but please tell us if you have any of these!):
  • Advanced degree(s)
  • Advanced Probability and Statistics experience
  • Signal Processing experience
  • AI or Machine Learning Experience
  • Audio Engineering or Production
  • Art and/or animation
  • Experience with wager-based gaming
  • Coding/ programming skills
  • Musical composition
  • Game design experience
  • Dance/ choreography
  • Filmmaking
  • Storytelling
  • Competitive sports (individual or team)
  • Table top games
  • Engineering Design
  • User Experience/ User Interfaces
  • Experience with Unity

Responsibilities
  • Actively contribute to all phases of the Game Innovation Fellowship
  • Design and build games as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop and rigorously follow creative and technical design processes
  • Use advanced prototyping and AI tools to generate and refine compelling game concepts
  • Exercise independent judgment on matters of significance and bring a high standard of craft to everything you produce

What You Can Expect From AGS:
  • A world-class, totally unique learning experience including field trips that you won't find anywhere else
  • Full-time employment from day one, with salary, benefits, and bonus eligibility
  • A business casual office full of games with talented and engaging individuals
  • Mentorship, Coaching, and Support for your career development

What We Expect of You:
This program is designed to be demanding. We expect Fellows to bring full commitment, high standards, and intellectual humility.
  • Full presence during training: Minimize planned absences during the first three months. This period is intensive by design.
  • Curiosity with rigor: Eagerness to learn is required-but so is the discipline to go deep, not just wide.
  • Collaborative generosity: A genuine willingness to share your skills, give honest feedback, and make the people around you better.
  • Ownership mindset: Self-motivated, proactive, and accountable. You don't wait to be told what to do next.
  • Resilience: An honest understanding that change, iteration, and failure are not obstacles to great design-they are the process.
  • Respect and team focus: We hold ourselves to the standard of Us, We & Our. No exceptions.

Note: All offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check
*Posted positions are not open to third party recruiters and unsolicited resume submissions will be considered free referrals.
