Job description

As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn't changed - we're here to stop breaches, and we've redefined modern security with the world's most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We're proud to work for a mission-driven company leveraging AI to transform the way we work. CrowdStrikers drive their careers through flexibility and autonomy while also being expected to contribute to a culture of responsible AI adoption, experimentation, and innovation. We use an AI-first mindset as a force multiplier to proactively and continuously accelerate execution, build expertise, uncover insights, and solve complex problems. We're always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.
About the Role:
Help us protect the Security Cloud from the most advanced threats! CrowdStrike's Product Security team breaks the mold of traditional security teams and focuses on active threats to CrowdStrike's products and platform. As a Security Engineer III on Product Security Architecture, you will serve as a subject matter expert and trusted security partner across our product and engineering organizations.
This isn't a role dedicated to managing firewall rules or security group configurations. You will develop deep expertise across our security cloud - spanning public cloud and physical data centers - to identify security gaps, reduce attack surface, and architect new secure architectural patterns that scale with our business. Operating with full independence on poorly-understood and ambiguous problems, you will drive medium-to-long-term strategic direction for network security across the product group, while mentoring and multiplying the effectiveness of the engineers around you.
This is a highly dynamic, hands-on role that requires both deep technical depth and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives with broad organizational impact.
What You'll Do:
Network & Cloud Security Architecture & Engineering
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of CrowdStrike's hybrid networks spanning public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and physical data centers, continuously assessing attack surface and identifying security gaps.
  • Design and architect new network connection patterns and zone segmentation strategies that reduce risk while enabling product scalability.
  • Build scalable monitoring, alerting, and automation solutions targeting security risks across a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
  • Lead threat modeling efforts focused on secure architecture, data flows, and connectivity patterns across platform services.
  • Evaluate current threat landscape and business priorities to effectively sequence and drive the highest-impact security improvements.
  • Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.

Strategic & Technical Leadership
  • Ability to deliver on less-defined tasks in their area of expertise, given clear requirements
  • Contribute to the near to medium-term strategic direction for network & cloud infrastructure security; proactively identify areas of greatest need and developing actionable plans to address them.
  • Provide architectural and design expertise that accounts for the broader platform picture, not just point-in-time solutions.
  • Ability to become a SME for the team in the area of cloud security controls
  • Communicate technical decision through design docs, tech talks, and wiki

Cross-Team Partnership & Collaboration
  • Partner closely with product engineering, infrastructure, and platform teams to understand scaling requirements & translate them into secure-by-design architecture patterns.
  • Work across organizational boundaries to facilitate alignment on security requirements, driving consensus on complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Clearly communicate decisions and architectural direction to both technical and non-technical stakeholders once alignment is reached.
  • Serve as a role model for security culture and best practices within your functional area.

Mentorship & Talent Development
  • Multiply the effectiveness of the broader team by facilitating cross-team knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Be a valued team resource for your area of expertise and someone teammates seek out to work with.
  • Mentor junior ICs or interns via pairing, design reviews, and code reviews.

What You'll Need:
  • Deep networking expertise across hybrid environments - public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and physical data center networking - including routing, segmentation, zone design, and traffic inspection architectures.
  • Strong cloud security knowledge and experience identity gaps in coverage and controls across a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Solid experience identifying network security gaps and designing scalable, secure connection patterns in SaaS or cloud-native product environments.
  • Strong protocol knowledge including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, TLS, and applied cryptography.
  • Prior exposure to leveraging AI to improve the effectiveness of the team's capabilities.
  • Experience building scalable monitoring, alerting, and automation solutions for network security use cases.
  • Scripting and automation capabilities in Python, Go, shell, or equivalent languages.
  • Experience working with teams that engineer and bring products to market in fast-paced, forward-looking environments.
  • Understanding of security architecture principles across the SDLC.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently on broad problems and drive them to resolution.
  • Excellent communication skills - able to participate in technical debates, build consensus, and clearly articulate complex security concepts to varied audiences.
  • A combination of confidence, independence, clear thinking, and a collaborative mindset.

Bonus Points:
  • Experience with GCP's security controls.
  • Experience with IaaS/PaaS networking constructs (VPCs, transit gateways, private endpoints, service meshes, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust network architecture principles and implementation patterns.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline security and operational systems.
  • Experience building solutions leveraging AI's capabilities.
  • Understanding of compliance requirements and evidence collection in a regulated SaaS environment.
  • Prior experience in a formal mentorship capacity.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent field.
