Job description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for a degreed Environmental Specialist to fill a contract position in an environmental test lab in Calera, AL. 

US Citizenship required.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Environmental Laboratory provides analytical services used for regulatory compliance, contract specification verification, and asset protection. 

This position supports sample receiving and customer sample kit preparation, helping ensure samples are properly received and processed to meet customer expectations across various sample categories.  

Routine responsibilities include cleaning sample containers, performing room inspections, building customer sample kits, and receiving samples.

This position may also provide support for other lab areas, as needed. 

Primary Job Responsibilities

Work safely and identify, report, and support corrective actions for unsafe working conditions.

Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while performing all job duties.

Prepare customer sample kits and maintain a clean, ready supply of transformer oil syringes.

Receive transformer oil samples submitted to the laboratory.

Assist QC project managers with sample receipt, as needed (e.g., checking pH, labeling samples).

Maintain clear and professional communication with customers and co-workers.

Support timely, accurate, and cost-effective laboratory services by coordinating with employees, management, and customers, as needed.

Follow established quality control processes to support the integrity and effectiveness of the lab’s quality management system.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree (chemistry, biology, environmental science or related field) with a minimum of 15 semester hours of chemistry is preferred.

Experience with quality control requirements for analytical methods is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated attention to detail is required.

Ability to develop relationships with a variety of internal/external work groups and customers.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to understand technical procedures.

Ability to detect problems and work with others to solve.

Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.

Computer Skills - Microsoft Office suite with accurate and efficient typing (keyboarding) skills.

Understanding OSHA laboratory safety requirements of 29 CFR 1910.

Supplemental worker will be required to have the following PPE to perform job duties: safety glasses, disposable nitrile gloves, lab coat.
