Job description

INTERNSHIP POSITION SUMMARY:

Metcon is a commercial general contractor that specializes in construction management, negotiated, design-build and select hard-bid projects. Project Engineer Intern provide informational support to construction staff under the supervision of the Project Manager. Review the design and bidding documents, evaluates contractor bids, and oversees construction progress and scheduling. The Project Engineer Level 1 analyze plans and other technical documents, answers questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project, and monitors costs and project progress. May assist in the development of cost estimates. Additionally, Project Engineer Intern typically reports to the Project Manager, and work on projects/matters of limited complexity in a shadowing support role. The Project Engineer Intern is to ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Metcon.

INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Job shadowing a Project Engineer
  • Job shadowing a Superintendent
  • Observing Metcon’s safety protocol & required PPE
  • Learning how to use Procore
  • Submittal Process receiving it, cross referencing with contract documents/closeout
  • RFI Logs How is a RFI generated /find the requested information
  • Make necessary changes per RFI or Architecture changes
  • Safety Documents and Safety Meeting Site audits
  • Attend Project Meetings
  • Meeting Minutes how to write them
  • Making calls chasing down items needed
  • Be onsite, this separates classroom versus reality
  • Weekly Activity Reports to be completed and reviewed with Mentor
  • Opportunity to attend networking/social events/Field trips to other projects.
