What We're Looking For:

Iridium is seeking a talented and motivated entry-levelย Support Engineerย I to joinย Iridium in support of a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As aย Support Engineerย I, you'll contribute to maintaining and supporting satellite ground entry point infrastructure that enables reliable communications across Iridium's global network. In this role, you will focus primarily on site maintenance activities, equipment troubleshooting, antenna upkeep, and system-level checks while working alongside experienced engineers. You will thrive in this role if you enjoy hands-on technical work, are eager to learn new technologies, and are motivated to build a career in the aerospace and telecommunications industry.ย 

This position requires an active/currentย Top-Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain aย Top-Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).ย 

What You'll Do:
  • Support maintenance activities for satellite ground entry points (GEPs) and gateway systems to help ensure reliable network operationsย ย 
  • Assist with troubleshooting hardware, equipment, and communications issues under the guidance of experienced engineersย ย 
  • Participate in routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and operational checks of antennas and supporting infrastructureย ย 
  • Help identify and document equipment issues, anomalies, and maintenance activitiesย ย 
  • Conduct system-level checks and basic testing procedures to verify operational performanceย ย 
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and operations teams to support site availability and reliability objectivesย ย 
  • Investigate and help resolve routine technical issues following established procedures and documentationย ย 
  • Support the installation, replacement, and maintenance of communications equipment and associated hardwareย ย 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on maintenance processes and proceduresย ย 
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and site documentationย 
What You'll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree inย mechanical engineeringย or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degreeย 
  • General experience inย orย a basic knowledge ofย the network communicaton industryย 
  • Strong communicationย skills, with the ability toย communicateย key messages and ideasย clearly andย effectivelyย 
  • Canย cultivateย meaningful relationships withย your manager and members of yourย team, while beingย open and responsive to constructive feedback asย theyย guide and mentor youย

Things Thatย Would beย Greatย if You Brought to the Table:
  • Previousย exposure via college courses or internshipsย to the following:ย 
    • Experience with satellite network installationย 
    • Working knowledge of IP networks, IP equipment routing protocolsย 
    • Experience withData Center installationย 
    • Exposure to construction, telecommunications, utility, industrial, or other hands-on field work environmentsย ย 
    • Familiarity with construction site safety practices and safe work procedures.ย ย 
    • OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or other relevant workplace safety certificationsย 
We'll also need you to:
  • When notย traveling, beย able to work in the office at least 3 or more days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholdersย 
  • Be able to travel up toย 50%ย 
  • Be able to lift up to 30 pounds, stand for multiple hours, and climb short laddersย 
  • Be a U.S. Citizenย 
Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.ย 

We believe in-person connection drives innovation, strengthens mentorship, and builds culture, while flexibility enables employees to do their best work. Under Iridium's Hybrid Work Policy, employees are expected to work at least three days per week (approximately 60%) in an Iridium office to support collaboration, relationship-building, and professional growth.

Base Pay Range: $60,000 - $75,000 USD

Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors and this range represents an estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Base salary is only one part of our compensation package for this role.ย You may also be eligible for company stock and annual bonus. Employee benefits also include medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage; 401(k) retirement plan options; paid time off and paid holidays; paid parental leave; and other discounts and perks.ย ย
