Internship Sap Consultant information

What is an internship SAP consultant?

Internship SAP consultants are students or recent graduates who work temporarily within organizations to gain hands-on experience with SAP software and consulting practices. They assist senior SAP consultants in configuring, testing, and supporting SAP modules according to business requirements. This role helps interns learn about business processes, system integration, and project management within an SAP environment, often serving as a stepping stone to a full-time SAP consultant position. Interns may also participate in training sessions, workshops, and documentation tasks as part of their professional development.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on during an SAP consultant internship?

As an SAP Consultant intern, you will typically assist with tasks such as system configuration, user support, data analysis, and documentation. You may also participate in process mapping, testing new SAP functionalities, and preparing training materials for end-users. Interns often collaborate closely with experienced consultants, business analysts, and IT teams, providing a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience with real-world SAP implementations and client interactions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship SAP consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship SAP Consultant, you typically need foundational knowledge in business processes, basic programming or data analysis skills, and a relevant degree in business, IT, or engineering. Familiarity with SAP modules (such as SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA), understanding of databases, and any SAP-related certifications are highly advantageous. Strong analytical thinking, effective communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving help interns stand out in this role. These skills and qualifications are crucial for efficiently supporting project teams, understanding client requirements, and contributing to successful SAP implementations.

Job description

Introduction
Launch your career like an IBMer
Every IBMer has a story. For many, it started with an internship.
As an IBM intern, you won't just gain experience - you'll start thinking, working, and growing like an IBMer. From day one, you'll contribute to real client projects across diverse industries, working alongside experienced IBMers who are invested in your success. You'll be challenged, supported, and inspired, often all in the same day. You'll develop technical expertise and consulting skills in a culture built on continuous learning, mentorship, and coaching. High-performing interns have a clear pathway into IBM's Associate Program, launching careers at one of the world's most innovative technology and consulting companies.
To give yourself the best opportunity for success, we advise applying only to roles that align with your skills and experience, rather than applying broadly across all entry-level positions. You'll receive a status update email for each application, so be sure to check your IBM Careers account regularly - it's the best way to get a centralized view of which roles you have active applications against.
Your role and responsibilities
During your internship, you'll gain hands-on experience by supporting client projects while developing professional and technical skills. You'll collaborate with experienced consultants, contribute to SAP-related initiatives, and build a strong foundation in enterprise technology and business transformation.
At IBM, we foster a culture of continuous learning, coaching, and mentorship. As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to grow your skills, build a strong professional network, and potentially advance into our full-time Associates Program based on your performance.
Work experiences you could be exposed to:
  • SAP Business Processes: Support teams working on SAP solutions that help clients improve business functions such as finance, supply chain, procurement, and human resources.
  • Business & Project Support: Assist with requirements gathering, documentation, testing, reporting, and other activities that contribute to successful SAP implementations and transformation projects.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work alongside functional and technical teams, participating in workshops and meetings to better understand client needs and business processes.
  • Technology Exposure: Gain experience with enterprise applications and cloud technologies, including SAP platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Analytics solutions.

The primary internship program dates are May to July 2027 (10 weeks).
Leaders are expected to spend time with their teams and clients and therefore are generally expected to be in the workplace a minimum of three days a week, subject to business needs.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to communicate effectively through active listening, with a willingness to adapt and take ownership of tasks and challenges.
  • Interest in enterprise technology consulting, business transformation, ERP systems, or SAP solutions.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred technical and professional experience
  • Ability to understand clients' needs and challenges, applying a creative and logical approach to identify solutions.
