Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Analytics and Assessment assists with the coordination and implementation of data-informed decision-making analytics projects in the Isenberg School of Management (ISOM). The position is responsible for cultivating and communicating insights from data to facilitate decision-making, support program planning, support analytics-driven effectiveness and efficiency initiatives, and contribute to the rankings of Isenberg School of Management (ISOM). The position assumes primary responsibility for the collection, organization and analysis of information related to teaching load reporting to senior leadership and university administration.
Essential Functions
Teaching Load Reporting and Data Management
Leads, collects and analyzes data and shares insights on teaching load and overload teaching information for reporting to senior leadership and university administration.
Maintains and updates teaching load and overload reports every Fall and Spring semester. Works directly with faculty to ensure teaching load data are collected, updated, and continuously reviewed. Ensures teaching load data are accurate, consistent and collected in a timely manner.
Maintains confidentiality and adheres to data security policies.
Attends university trainings and workshops as needed to stay up to date on reporting requirements.
Analytics and Additional Data Management
Designs, creates, and implements insightful data dashboards, databases and other reporting tools to support key strategic initiatives and ad-hoc requests for monitoring of admissions standards, enrollments, classroom utilization, student retention, student completion-rates, and faculty utilization.
Assists with data retrieval and submissions for external rankings of undergraduate and graduate programs. Supports the reporting of progress and performance on School strategic initiatives to the University Office of Institutional Effectiveness and public facing audiences.
Works with key stakeholders across ISOM and the University to coordinate and respond to information requests. Ensures effective communication and proper documentation of data sources, standards, and related processes and policies.
Translates success metrics into tracking and reporting requirements. Makes actionable recommendations to business decision-makers based on research and analytical results.
Contributes to required AACSB accreditation surveys and reports including faculty qualification and intellectual contribution tracking and assessment of learning outcomes.
Administrative and Programmatic Duties
Supervises up to 2 student staff and interns.
Collaborates to devise, implement, and improve processes for data gathering and distribution across multiple departments and various channels.
Supports survey assessment design, distribution, and management. Coordinates with Associate Director to plan and implement data trainings for faculty and staff. Coordinates with Associate Director to support the collection of Assurance of Learning data.
Other Functions
Performs related duties as assigned or required to meet department, school, and university goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in business analytics.
Analytically minded with an aptitude for numbers and visualization of data.
Ability to analyze data to support management decisions and improve performance.
Ability to make data digestible to non-technical individuals or teams.
Demonstrated ability to think through problems and apply critical thinking skills.
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Experience with data visualization and dashboard tools such as Tableau.
Independent initiative and willingness to ask questions.
Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple complex projects.
Ability to clearly and confidently communicate project requirements and challenges with teammates
Ability to collaborate and maintain productive relationships on and with cross-functional teams.
Strong skills in all Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
Strong commitment to customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in data analytics or related field.
At least one (1) year of experience in higher education or institutional research.
Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) and entity resource planning (ERP) systems, specifically Salesforce and SPIRE.
Programming experience using statistical tools (e.g., KNIME, SAS, R, SPSS).
Ability to learn new technical skills rapidly and independently.
Additional Details
May require occasional travel for meetings and professional development opportunities.
This position is subject to final budgetary and administrative approval.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a standard office or indoor university environment and involves minimal physical exertion.
Work Schedule and Work Arrangement
Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm.
May require work some nights & weekends as pertains to business needs.
This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee's work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position falls within the Professional Staff Union, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the Professional Staff Union collective bargaining agreement.
