POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a motivated and collaborative Electronic Engineer to support the PCB design and design, development, testing, and production of power supplies and related subsystems. This role contributes to product development from concept through manufacturing, working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and support teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Place components and route traces ensuring that all functional and physical specifications meet the design requirements for PCB, electrical, mechanical and thermal design.
  • Create PCB designs in accordance with manufacturability and assembly requirements.
  • Engage manufacturing team to allow for design for manufacturability improvements (DFM).
  • Create drawings, gerber files, and other documentation for PCB fabrication and internal verification.
  • Work with Electrical, Mechanical and Firmware Engineers and react appropriately to engineering changes in PCB design and documentation.
  • Participate in process improvement activities for the CAD design team.
  • Assist in ECAD library creation and maintenance for footprints and symbols.
  • Manage the necessary part parametric data in CIS database.
  • Create or update schematic and PCB library symbols using Altium Design Tools.
  • Support prototype development, validation, and product testing efforts using standard lab equipment.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot system performance, including root cause and failure analysis of field and manufacturing issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, manufacturing, quality, and field support) to meet product requirements.
  • Develop and execute test plans, analyze data, and drive design improvements.
  • Utilize programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar) to automate testing and data analysis.
  • Contribute to hardware/software integration and system-level design considerations.
  • Apply structured engineering methods to meet cost, quality, and schedule objectives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Location: Eden Prairie, MN
  • Environment: Onsite, office environment

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles, including circuit analysis, analog/digital design, and power electronics.
  • Familiarity with electronic components, systems, and measurement techniques (oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power meters, etc.).
  • Experience or exposure to embedded systems, microcontrollers, FPGA, or SoC architectures (e.g., ARM, Xilinx).
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and apply structured engineering methods to develop solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.

EXPERIENCE:
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience and knowledge of PCB design technologies, techniques, electrical schematics, PCB fabrication and assembly drawings, circuit analysis, lab testing, and engineering fundamentals is desirable (Internships/co-ops acceptable).
  • Fundamental knowledge of industry standards such as IPC for design and ASME/ANSI for documentation is desirable

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required

COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $60,000 to $90,000 per year.
