Sales Intern (8-12 Week Rotational Program)

BlueLinx is seeking a motivated and curious Sales Intern to participate in a structured, hands-on rotational program. This immersive experience provides exposure to Inside Sales, Outside Sales, Operations, and key administrative processes, offering a comprehensive view of how our teams work together to serve customers and drive business results.

This internship is designed for individuals interested in building a career in sales, operations, or distribution, with a strong focus on learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do:

Inside Sales

  • Shadow each member of the Inside Sales team to learn core responsibilities and daily workflow
  • Spend time with the Sales Manager to gain insight into leadership responsibilities and branch performance
  • Partner with the Inventory Analyst to understand inventory management, product flow, and demand planning
  • Support customer communication, order entry, quoting, and account management activities

Operations

  • Work alongside operations team members to learn picking and staging processes
  • Gain exposure to routing, delivery coordination, and logistics planning
  • Learn the current RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) routing process
  • Develop an understanding of safety expectations, efficiency, and accuracy in warehouse operations

Outside Sales

  • Travel with Outside Sales Representatives to observe customer interactions, job site visits, and territory management
  • Participate in customer meetings and follow-up activities
  • Attend customer events to gain exposure to relationship-building and networking
  • Learn how BlueLinx delivers value to customers in the field

Integration & Capstone Project

  • Re-engage with the Inside Sales team to apply knowledge gained across rotations
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes observed during the program
  • Develop a project focused on process improvement or operational efficiency
  • Present final recommendations to branch leadership (General Manager and Sales Manager)
