Schedule: 12 hour shift (7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) Continuous Work Schedule; 4 days on 4 days off

Location: Onsite in Newington, CT


SUMMARY

Assist in the operation of the 6-8-10 color presses with production and quality in mind. Aid the first pressman, as directed, in the efficient operation of the press. Maintain press area in regard to supplies and housekeeping.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist the first press operator in the job setup, as follows:
  • Review job tickets
  • Set up paper for the production of a job
  • Change cylinders
  • Hang plate
  • Change blanket
  • Install perfs, scores and die cuts
  • Place pinfeed
  • Setup all finishing aspects of the press, to include roll-to-roll and sheeter
  1. Assist in the production of a job, as follows:
  • Maintain proper ink and ink levels in fountain
  • Maintain fountain solution
  • Supply paper as indicated on job ticket
  • Record paper usage
  • Assist in the inspection of the quality of print, including:
  • Color
  • Register
  • Free of imperfections, such as, dry up, hickeys, broken type, etc.
  • Ensure the samples are of the best quality possible
  • Runability in other departments, to include throw length and pinfeed position; perf and score strength; fanfold.
  • Assist in paperwork associated with job production
  • Maintain silicon/anti-stat levels during a sheeter run
  • Wash up press at the end of job
  1. Work on 6-color press, as required, as part of the training process for becoming a 6-color press operator.
  1. Communicate, as needed, press maintenance, supply and safety issues to shift supervisor.
  1. Maintain a clean work environment
  1. Mix inks, as needed.
  1. Drop paper, as needed.
  1. Operate press in the absence of the first press operator
  1. Comply with company rules, regulations and standard operating procedures.
  1. Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
  1. Implement a commitment to quality philosophy and recommend methods and procedures to reduce cost and/or improve quality and operating efficiency of the department.
  1. Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.
  1. Perform other related duties, as required, to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and company.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Trade school, high school or GED preferred plus 1-2 years of experience on offset presses or equivalent.
