This position has a target start date of summer 2027.

  • As an Instrumentation and Controls Cyber Security Engineer 1, you will work on a multi-discipline engineering team involved in nuclear power plant instrumentation and controls projects. These projects may involve preparing Cyber Security assessments or evaluations on new or modifications of digital control systems. These control systems are a synergistic integration of electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering along with control theory.
  • Working under the direction of senior engineers, this position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in electronic process sensors, digital controllers, and touchscreen displays to improve the functionality of nuclear power plants. You will:
    • Assist in the preparation of specifications and designs for control systems
    • Prepare Cyber Security Assessments of digital components and systems
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's of Science degree in Engineering or Computer Science with a strong academic background and coursework in digital control system design including both hardware and software
    • Enrollment in an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Prior, related internship or co-op experience
  • Coursework and/or experience in mechatronics, computer science, and/or robotics
  • An understanding of the practical application of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and technology, including applying systems, principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and designation as an Engineer in Training

  • Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued but not required.
  • We also value additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems.
